Jewel. KC and the sunshine band, Kobe Bryant???? and now movie previews? Why do they even bother? couldn't they just black out the entire halftime? show continous commercials? Maybe re-runs of their classics celebrity mole and the bachelor? This series is pretty unattractive, but ABC isn't even trying. They should sell the finals rights to TNT or NBC if this is their best effort.
I agree. The halftime shows on ABC for the NBA Finals were HORRRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE. ABC/ESPN has sucked in covering the NBA as whole this season. NBC did such a great job those years that it had the NBA. I mean it just didn't feel like the finals without Marv Albert doing the play by play and Bob Costas hosting the pre-game, Halftime and post-game shows. I mean they could have done a better job with the halftime shows.
I could not believe the movie previews! who the hell do they think we are? i just was completely shocked and dumbfounded that they would pull something like that! jesus, they didnt even fit in any basketball discussion!
I thought ESPN was bad too, especially with Tim 'stuttering' Hardaway. But I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, at least they tried and did improve. I love how ABC starts their last few games with, "These are really ugly games", "We know the finals are ugly but stay with us". Great way to promote it for the casual fan, do they think viewers will thank them for their honesty and stick around? With tv execs like that, no wonder this network finished behind fox. I feel sorry for Mike Tirico though, he had to sound all excited about the halftimes, "Hey folk stayed tuned for the super star 'Jewel'; " or, "Guess what folks, coming up, summer blockbuster previews, I get to talk to someone movie critic!!!" The poor guy had to put on a green Hulk glove, he should have faked the flu to get out of that.
How bout the opening of each game done by LL Cool J? what a piece of crap song. "spurs nets goin to war, spurs nets goin to war!". golly LL, i thought we werent going to liken sports to war anymore due to the conflict in Iraq. that went straight out the window. Note to ABC and the NBA: no one cares about LL "Cool" J.
