Yao just needs to catch it. A catchable pass in the post, on time, is better than wasting time and struggling to find an over-the-head passing angle when you're just too short.
This thread is stupid it is a perfectly fine pass, and it is not resulting in turnovers, not to mention the defense can not reach in and get it......dumb thread. DD
Brooks take a long time to pass to Yao regardless if it's a bounce pass or not. I was screaming in the Mavs game at one point when Yao had his man pinned and Brooks took about 5 seconds to throw him the ball. It's too much to ask a big man to hold his man longer. AB needs to be quicker. Generally you should never bounce pass to a big but in AB's case you almost have to because of his size. The trick is it needs to be a high bounce.
actually the bounce pass is the best kinda pass you can make... it dosent matter how tall the guy is... like others said... you just got to get it to where the other guy wants it... the art of passing is such a under rated skill if you ever saw Pete Maravich or Magic Johnson play for the Lakers or Wayne Gretzky play hockey you know what i mean...
Huh, don't know. I saw Lowry pass some balls to Yao. Maybe it's because Lowry can create some room for passing.
like you said, "ideally" you'd want to do that, but the league isn't ideal, our team isn't ideal. Yao doesn't hold his position very well, so you have to consider him moving around when he in the post. It's easy to hit your target when it's not moving, but Yao IS a moving target, and Aaron IS short, so you have to find what works. If that happens to be Brooks hitting him with a bounce pass, so be it.
does it really matter how he passes the ball to Yao. As long as he gets it to him without turning it over there should be no problems.
Its nothing wrong with Brooks bounce pass because yao isn't moving, its crisp off a ball fake, and it comes in at Yao's waist which is good. If the pass was at the knees and yao was moving, that's another story. If yao was asked he would tell you its a easy to handle ball.
Who cares if he bounces the ball. It will keep the defender off gaurd. If they can't get it to work then we'll worry about it later.
