Let's just sit him on the bench until the other team brings in a slow PF. Then we sub in KT and iso him against the slow PF. When he faces up he can blow right past those guys. Plus, while he is wearing them down on defense they should have a tough time coming back to score. I like how we have a lot of very different players because it makes it easier to create mismatches.
He can also elbow SAR . I have a feeling Kenny will get some time with either Rice or Boki on the IR this year, and perhaps some time at 4, too.
KT will be our starting PF until Taylor is good enough to start or if EG really plays well in the paint.KT will also get some minutes at the 3 as well. I expect him to walk at the end of the season unless the Rockets find someone to take Taylor.
I've also seen KT drive by Antawn Jamison about five times in one game! Oh yeah, I forgot... Jamison can't guard a closed door with a high-powered rifle... guess that doesn't mean anything for KT then...
A couple years ago KT had decent three point range but had a pf's body. Now, he's gotten into sf shape but has lost the three point range.
KT will have a big "roll" to fill for at least 5 game (MoT ya smartt)--He'll continue to start for a good while though, he wants to win the job at PF.
Guys you are crazy if you think KT is starting next season (outside of taylors 5 game suspension). If Taylor is not moved, then he will be the starter until Griffin takes it over. The Rockets always show loyalty (for better of worse), to the vets, and payroll. KT got this benefit when Griffin was outplaying his spot (when injured) last year. Taylor is not getting paid the big bucks to back up KT. Besides Taylor is a more likeable player, and would probably have no problem backin up Griffin in the future (where KT will by whinning unless he is the starter). If the Rockets are moving away from ISO's, then what is KT going to do next year? pass the ball?
KT CANNOT play the 3, he is too slow to keep up with SFs. Also, I think Griffin will start the first game. Having him and Ming in the middle will really cause troulbe for other teams. 1st 5 games: After 5 games: Ming-Cato Ming-Cato Griffin-KT (if not traded) Taylor-Griffin Rice-Nachbar Rice-Nachbar Mobley-?? Mobley-??? Francis-Norris Francis-Norris We are paying Taylor too much to have him as a backup, and plus we need Taylors strength. He is the only one on our team who is "big" and we need that to stop Wallace, Webber, Duncan, Brand. WE NEED TO TRADE KT FOR A SG!!!!!!!!
KT cannot play the 3, he is too slow. I am just finishing watching our last game against the Blazers last year. I just have to laugh when people talk such nonsense. Is Rice quicker than KT? Is Walt? Is Tmo? Is Boki? I did not see KT having any problem taking Pippen to the basket. If there are five things you need from your SF, KT has at least four and a half.
I don't think his outside shooting should be a big problem at the 3. Ming and Griffin/Taylor would still be out on the floor to take some outside jumpers and keep good spacing. I don't think his speed is that big of a problem either. If the quicker 3's get past Kenny they'll still have to deal with Ming and Eddie in the paint. I'm not saying Kenny's primary position should be at small forward, but I don't see why he couldn't spend some minutes at the 3.
KT will start at the beginning of the season because MoT hasn't proved he can come back from the injury. Griffin will not start because starters don't play in the summer league. Griffin still needs to develope. He might start at the end of the season but that depends on how well KT plays.
KT is a plus for the Rox, which ever way you look at it! He did get upset when he was'nt starting though! IMHO That will change if the Team is one that is winning, he will do what ever Rudy tells him to do inorder to have the chance to shine on the NEW ROX.
I like to read about thoughts that come from outside the box. Saying KT can't be this or that is rediculous. People said Muhamed Ali would never be a great heavy weight because he wasn't strong enough. Now I'm not saying that Kenny will be the greatest, just that he CAN play the 3 position. He just has to play the 3 in an untraditional way. Now let us talk about what the team can do that will use Kenny's strengths at the 3. He's a good rebounder, good iso guy, hits the 5-15 footer pretty well. I think that's a pretty good start. Also, there should be plenty of room for him down low when Yao steps in. Yao is a center that likes to play outside sometimes. I think Kenny can only diversify our offense and defense, not hinder it.
I used to say "if KT was 2 inches taller". But then realized he kills the flow of the game. I really think another team can benefit from his skills as their 6th man, but we need a backup SG, and Torres isn't cutting it.
KT is the Rockets version of Rodman- he's the only guy out there who will grab boards play tough D and not demand to shoot every other time down (his salary is nice too). I really think the Rockets will try and move MoT (later in the season when he is fully back)-- KT will work off the bench Mo won't and next year one of them will be coming off the bench for Griffin--
I think KT is a player. He may not fit the role of a 3 or a 4. He is a tweener. KT can play either position. The only way you trade him is if you get value for value. This season we are stacked at the forward position, but it is a good problem to have. Our bench should be very deep and if someone gets hurt we will have a replacement part. KT is one of those replacements.
Hey Sane you have a point. KT does screw up the flow of the game. He just doesn't fit with our team. Him and Collier are the odd men that should be out. I hope when we trade KT we throw in Collier as well.
I can't wait for the season to start. Then maybe we can finally determine who will be the odd man out.
