The person who takes his family to a restaurant feels sorry for the waitress who works on $2 an hour plus tips no health insurance but when he goes home forgets about it and goes to sleep easily.

Puts up gates to his neighborhood to avoid minorities.

Hires attorneys to find loopholes to save a few bucks on taxes knowing full well he can pay them.

Tricks poor, uneducated, rural people who don't know any better that health insurance is not in their best interest despite the fact they don't even have it and would be a boon for them.

Gives to charity but only for tax benefits.

Doesn't say anything but wouldn't mind if segragation was put back into effect.

Blasts illegals but hires them to mow his lawn and clean his house.

And essentially doesn't want to give back to the society that helped him get where he was. This is a Republican.

I hate the Republican leadership as much as the next liberal, but that is not what a typical Republican is like.

    (a republican politician)

Is one who is against terrorism, but for terrorism when it benefits their ideal i.e pocketbook.

Is one who campaigns against abortion but has no problem dropping a bomb in a village where kids play.

Is God first, unless that involves serving the poor and having to deal with those evil commies who live for liberation theology.

Is Country second, unless a black president is leading.

Is family third, unless he sees a young female worth hitting....wait.. that goes for all parties.

    ... usually older

... usually saving his or her money, not spending as much as a democrat would

... usually reserved with strongest opinions, loud with minute details

... holding a "traditional" family and values

    ... old-fashioned

    ... usually white/caucasian/U.S.-born-and-raised

    not  Hispanic?

It was a joke. I was pretending not to pick up on his sarcasm. I assume he thinks he is a civic minded guy. He may be for all I know.

It might be a dumb thread but many liberals are indeed mystified by the proudly proclaimed seemingly selfish ideology of conservatives and libertarians.
