I cannot WAIT to see this movie. Christopher Guest is a pure badass: From acclaimed director Christopher Guest, the man behind Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show, comes A Mighty Wind, a hilarious (and mostly improvised) mockumentary about three folk groups from the '60s who reunite for a memorial concert in New York City following the death of their legendary manager. Featuring an all-star cast of Guest movie regulars, A Mighty Wind opens April 16--and Amazon.com Movie Showtimes has all the showtimes and locations for your area. When folk icon Irving Steinbloom passes away, he leaves behind a legacy of music and a family of performers he has shepherded to folk stardom. To celebrate a life spent submerged in folk, Irving's loving son Jonathan (Bob Balaban) decides to put together a memorial concert featuring some of Steinbloom's best-loved musicians. There's Mitch & Mickey (Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara), who were the epitome of young love until their partnership was torn apart by heartbreak; classic troubadours the Folksmen (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer), whose records were endlessly entertaining for anyone able to punch a hole in their center to play them; and the New Main Street Singers (featuring John Michael Higgins, Jane Lynch, and Parker Posey), the most meticulously color-coordinated "neuftet" ever to hit an amusement park near you. Now, for one night only in New York City's Town Hall, these three groups will reunite and gather together to celebrate the music that almost made them famous. They're all back together for the first time, again. A Mighty Wind opens April 16 and is rated PG-13. Click to find local showtimes in your area.
Christopher Guest doesn't get enough credit for his genius. I'm definitely going to see this one as soon as I can. I absolutely loved Spinal Tap, Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman, so I know this movie will kick ass.
Does anyone know when it's coming to Houston? I know it was released in a lot of cities on Wednesday, but I've seen nothing about when it gets here...
I posted the trailer here a few weeks ago and am dying to see it. It pisses me off that Houston isn't usually included in the "limited release" cities.
haha... i thought this was a Tim Robbins thread!!! Didn't he use the phrase "a mighty wind" in one of his speeches??
I'm going to see this tonight! Christopher Guest is great at diving in to whatever world he is satirizing. first, his character of Nigel Tufnel in Spinal Tap is downright brilliant. "These go to eleven." then, his directorial debut was "The Big Picture," with Kevin Bacon as a hot Hollywood film school graduate who finds himself compromizing his artistic vision. its pretty funny. then waiting for guffman came along. when i saw this i just about died because it reminded me of theater directors and high school drama teachers when i was growing up. his musical "Red, white and Blaine" is a riot. then, Best in Show, now this. I can't wait
i've never seen spinal tap or waiting for guafman but the play-by-play at the dog show in best in show was probably the funniest set of scenes i've ever seen
Parts of "Best of Show" were funny but there were long stretches without a laugh for me. Very uneven.
I saw this thread title and wondered how many replies it would take for someone to make a fart joke. 3rd reply. A-Train wins!
