Last night I was driving home from the Wal- . and you all remember how foggy it was (here in Houston) right? About 11:30 p.m., Well there is this stretch of road on Louetta near Spring where it is near pitch black at night. I think I see a person walking down the side of the road and sure enough it is apparent when I hit my brights. In fact the guy waves as I do this, but he looked strange. I thought nothing of it except why would this guy be walking here from nowhere and I proceed over the bridge and I swear to you the same guy is on the side with a hitch-hiking thumb extended. I didn't think too much about it, but that was kind of scary the more I think about it.

i was once driving down a farm road between corpus christi and bishop and my girlfriend started screaming (like in a movie or something) and i looked out her window and there was this woman wearing a white dress right beside us . and i am going like 45 mph at the time, so i freaked and i could feel my hair stand on end, goosebumps, tingling sensation, you name it. so then i floored it and didnt look back. that was one of the scariest moments in my life.

ROXRAN, you should be glad that you got home, do you remember an episode from the Twilight Zone where this group of people kept driving and driving but could not get out the town?

dc rock, that's one scary story. I would've freaked out for sure. Did you see the face?

I don't have any ghost stories to tell (yet), so I will use my mom's.
To preface this story, my mom does not believe in supernaturals before this incident.
My uncle (my mom's brother), passed away about 8 years ago because of illness, she hadn't seen him for more than a decade. My mom and dad went to take care of funeral arrangements and such. They spent a night at a hotel near where my uncle had lived and were getting ready for bed. Suddenly the tea cups on the dinner table start hopping on the plates. At first my parents thought it was earthquake, but nothing else in the room was moving. My dad, being a junkie for the supernatural said to my mom "it must be your brother telling us that he is here". Afterward, my dad just spoke out loud "Yes (my uncle's name), we know you are here." The cups stopped hopping...

A former acquaintence of mine told me about a house he and his friends used to go to in Corpus Christi that was abandoned. They went there on occassion but always felt spooky.

One night, they went inside the house and it got REALLY cold even though it was a warm summer night. They decided to leave. When they got in the car, he hit the gas but the car wouldn't move even though it was in drive and he was flooring it.

He put it in reverse and managed to move a little, but then put it back in drive and floored it out of there. When he got back to a hangout in town, he noticed there were what looked like fingernail scrapes down both sides of his car that had not been there when they came out of the house and got in the car.

    Wierd.

What is it with deserted country roads and ghosts?

When I lived in Detroit, my family had a summer cottage on Saginaw Bay that we used to stay at for a few weeks every year. It was a three-hour-drive through mostly corn fields and small towns.

One year, (I was probably about six or seven) we got a late start and it got dark an hour or so outside of town. There were absolutely no street lights anywhere and no other cars. My dad wasn't used to driving that route at night so we somehow ended up on this deserted farm road.

He was looking for a place to turn around when my mother started screaming about the road ending. Sure enough, the road stopped abruptly right in front of us with a sharp drop off just on the other side. In order to avoid going over, my dad had to brake hard and turn sharply and as he did we spun out in this huge cloud of dust.

As we spun I looked up and saw that a farm house was right there at the end of the road which I hadn't even noticed before. The really weird thing was the entire family (dad, mom and two kids) were standing motionless on the front porch watching us spin. The only thing illuminating them were our lights, which, through all the dust, gave them this eerie reddish cast.

Even when we came to a stop, they never moved. They just stood together (like in a old timey photo with the parents in back and the kids in front) completely still. We were all so freaked out my dad just hit the gas and we got the hell out of there. A very strange experience, indeed.

Even though I live in an old house now, I've never had any other creepy experiences like that. Good thing too, I'm pretty easily spooked. [IMG]

In college I lived in a house with four other guys.

    This house was very strange.

I've never had a problem being by myself in a house, but for some strange reason this house just spooked the heck out of me. If I was alone I would sleep in the living room. I had my own room, but for some reason I could never feel comfortable there if no one else was in the house.

There was a closet in the living room and every night I would make sure the door was closed and the light off. In the morning I would go into the room and the door would be open and the light on.

I thought maybe my roomies were playing a trick, but it happened to them too.

But the kicker was one night we were having a party. This one girl came to the front door and stepped inside, within seconds she started freaking out and ran outside.

Several people tried to coax her back in but she just would not have it.

She said she felt something evil. Like a presence within the house.

rascal, I'm easily spooked too. My mind wanders, and I always just scare myself. I've never seen a ghost, and I really have no desire to do so. I live by myself, and I would be lying if I told you that I've never been nervous. I have this thing about not keeping my eyes closed too long when I'm washing my hair.

mcmark, what city was this in ? Did you ever want to research the house ?

Jeff, your story had me going until you said "...hangout in town....." There's no place to hang out in CC, lol.

I lived in a haunted house, all kind of CRAZY and bizarre things happened! We used to hear noises at night in our basement. One time, when my brother was young, my mother had him in his crib and was downstairs washing clothes, and she heard a loud, thunderous crashing sound. When she got upstairs nothing was wrong, and my brother was sleep. One time I was in my room when I heard someone coming upstairs, when I went to the stair case I didn't see anyone, yet I STILL heard someone coming up stairs! My sister's bed used to shake VIOLENTLY when she tried to sleep, and one day me and my cousins were playing hide-and-seek and hid in a closet, when suddenly the door flew up and a transparent figure with an afro-style hair, and a brown sweater gave us this eerie smile and closed the door. We immediately opened the door and no one was there, and there was no way anyone could have left without us seeing him! Tons of other supernatural stuff happened to our family, remind me to tell you guys about it after I calm down from freaking myself out re-telling these stories! [IMG]

For me, I almost expected to see him again for some reason. I can't explain it. I am not psychic, but for some reason it did not surprise me when I saw this guy again on the side of the road! I did look in the rearview mirror the second time, and it kind of looked as if he disappeared. Very spooky, I could not wait to get home.

gr8-1 it was Huntsville (you know, the death capital of the US).

And no I never did research the house. Although I did find out that it was built in the 40s.

Moondog it was in 1988 off Ave J north of Campus.

I don't remember the exact address. But the house was a white sided 2 story that sat back off the road on the right just before Ave J merged with University Ave.
