This is coming from the same guy who said we should coast through the rest of the season and play our young guys just because we had a locked playoff position. Nice to see that you've changed your mind.
^wow, that was what I was going to say Just goes to show you DD doesn't really have a personal statement or belief about this team - he just loves to say bad things about this team. Regular season and playoffs are two completely different beasts. Just because we're barely above .500 vs. Western teams doesn't mean we're going to be feasted on in the playoffs.
Except that he just said he was going to start playing McGrady and Yao more minutes in these last regular-season games: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/4667146.html
All I am saying is that realistically our hopes are slim...doesn't mean we won't ROOT like crazy. I still think we are a year to 2 years away. DD
See, this is the kind of stuff that boggles my mind, clearly you have no reading comprehension skills whatsoever ! I said to expand the rotation so that our STARS were rested, and in case of injury some of the guys on the fringe of the rotation would be ready. And, in case you failed to notice...we DO have a locked playoff spot. I just don't think we have a realistic chance of winning it all.....in fact we probably will be favored to lose in the first round. But to give ourselves every chance I would like our starters to be rested and ready, don't you? Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb. Just because I am looking at it from a realistic standpoint does not mean I want them to lose, this is a DISCUSSION board, I am hoping to hear what people think about our .500 record against the West....and expanding the roster does NOT mean you lose the games..... Shades of gray Tweedle...shades of gray ! DD
Bleh, if you analyze 21-20 on a game to game/team to team basis, I'm not too worried. The only season series I'm worried about is 0-3 Suns.
Your not gonna win anything with that kind of loser mentality. Winner always look up, not down. How do you expect Rox to win the champion if their own fan don't believe in them? When your in the playoff, anything can happen.
Yes, anything can happen, I acknowledge that, and I root for the team, but my head says the team is not strong enough to win it all, yet. My heart always says....go for it. DD
All we have to do is make the playoffs, then win .580 of our games after that, which should be easy because we've won .634 of our game so far. Presto. World Champions.
1-3 Mavs...you'd be hard pressed to find teams with more then a win against the Mavs. They're just too good this season. Have to give them thier due there. However, regular season success hasn't always translated into playoff success. Still, this is a series I'm not too concerned about, considering the quality of the team we're talking about. 2-2 Spurs...We pretty much took the Spurs at thier home court twice without either Mac or Yao. We got took in our home court, that's true, but the first loss was just a huge comeback (inexcusable but its not like SA was owning us through four quarters) and the second is when we were running out of gas and playing a terrible stretch of basketball (losing to Celts, Hawks, Raps etc.) 1-1 Jazz...blew them out without Yao, was toying around wtih Battier at the 4 in the first game, an experiment that definetly failed. You won't see that happening in the playoffs unless JVG has a massive brain fart.
DaDa, as a consistent JVG hater, you've made quite a lot interesting comments before. But sometimes, you've also been found to be quite inconsistent in what you meant. One the one hand, you hope the Rockets work hard for the rest 11 games to win and to elevate your confidence in this team for the playoff; while on the other hand, when JVG said he will play Tmac more during this period you were pissed. Well, everyone here, including you are pretty clear we're not gonna win more if we play and develop our benches more at this time. So, whats your point? Maybe the only way is to quit as a rockets fan.
Yes, everyone knows our playoff spot is locked, but the homecourt advantage is not. I'm sure you agree that the homecourt advantage against the Jazz is a BIG deal. We can't just relax into the playoffs. Every game from here on out needs to be played as if it were a playoff game. It's obvious we are not at where we need to be so playing these last games at a high level will help more than resting our starters. T-Mac and Yao both did not play all 82 games, they will be fine energy wise. Yao is not even in playoff form yet, resting him now is not going to improve his game and stamina.
It is not inconsitant at all, playing your stars less does not equal loses, quite the contrary, I think it makes them fresher for the time they do play. I am in favor of playing a 9 man rotation right now....with Yao and Tmac playing at most 34-36 minutes.....nothing more. That does not mean that the team will lose those games....where do you get that? DD
ROFL!! are you kidding me?! So lets Yao Tmac and our other key players get out of game-shape and lose the intricacies such as timing and other invalueable aspects of the game they worked so hard to fine-tune throughout the season.. Yeah.. Right.
