I think it might be time for the Rockets to start thinking about trading for Jamie Feick. As this BBS has discussed before, he is a premier rebounder, proving himself by averaging 10.3 rpg two seasons ago and following that up with 9.3 rpg last year in fewer minutes. He would give us great rebounding, either in the starting lineup or off the bench. And he only costs $2.5M per season. Brian Grant, while better than Feick, is a similar type of player that is going for the freaking MAX! Let's jump on this now. Feick wants to be traded because Jersey has a glut at PF (Martin, Van Horn, A. Williams). Perhaps Walt--while I do believe he is still a valuable contributor to the Rockets--could entice Jersey, who are running low on swing players. If they could be convinced that Walt could play some 2-guard, they might bite. Wizard for Feick + throw-ins. Then again, it doesn't have to be Walt. Something to consider.

I would love to have Feick on our team. Kittles is out for quiet some time. Kenall signed with the team though. Their lineup is what

    Kenyon
    Van Horn
    Kendall
    Marbury.
    ?
I dont think they want to play Kenyon at center. Rony Seikaly is always hurt. So I think they might be looking for a big guy, and a small forward. Kendall wants to play shooting, and walt is a small forward. I would do walt and kenny for feick, etc.

Ron Siekaly doesn't play anymore. As a matter of fact, he works in the Nets front office. As far as Feick is concerned, who would you trade for him. Certainly not KT, who has shown the work ethic and desire to become a better player down low this season. I also believe in players who can score to keep the defense honest and KT cam do that. Jamie hasn't proved to be an effective scorer, just a decent rebounder. I think it's better to stay put than to mess up the team chemistry that has been developed. If he was a FA, then hey why not. We wouldn't have anything to lose. In this case, Kt has a more promising future than most give him credit for.

Well, alternative routes are going to be the only way to get a free agent into Houston. Mo Taylor appears headed towards Seattle.

The Rockets need a Power Forward who will not clog up the lane. That was one of the reasons that I wanted Mo Taylor with the Rockets.

But, this team desperatley needs a Power Forward!!!!!!

SF and C are question marks but not as big as the power forward need.

    Ottomation,

where did you see that Ron Seikaly was overseas? As late as the draft, he was working for the Nets. Must have realized how hard real work is and decided to try again. I wish him good luck. He should've stayed in the front office. Less stress on his body.

When I play the Nets on NBA2K, Van Horn just won't move, even w/ me pulling on the right hand trigger for turbo.

Van Horn says he won't play the 3. He is not quick enough to guard 3s anyway.

After the "retirement" of Jayson Williams, the Nets have Jim McIlvaine and Soumaila Samake at center. I think Eschmeyer also plays some 5.

Feick's contract is 15m for 6 years (2005) and there is too much difference between him and Walt for an even swap.

You don't even wanna think about Van Horn's (81m/6yr/2005). Even if the Nets would take 3, 4, or 5 players, getting Keith Van Horn would immediatley negate the benefit of losing Dreams contract in 2001-2002.

    vince makes a good point;
we need a PF who is not going to clog up the lane.

Now I haven't seen Feick play much, but from what I understand he shoots from the outside (and has the ability to hit the 3?) - does anyone know if this is the case? Because if we could land a PF who averages 9-10 boards per game and can nail the long range jumper, surely that's a great fit??

As far as trading for him goes... could be difficult, I know they'd probably like to see a bit of Walt out there, he could backup the 2 and 3 spots, but the salary is a bit of a mismatch... we may have to take a little junk from the nets to make that work... (although the only junk I can think of onthe nets is Lucious Harris....)

The Nets have McIlvane and Eischmayer at Centre and that Somake rookie, actually Eischmayer played quite well last year when he came back from injury and dramatically reduced Feicks minutes cause they had Feick playing centre and Eischmayer is a fair bit bigger and a legitimate centre size, with Martin and Van horn eating all the forward minutes, Feick is expendable for the Nets and from what you read is on the table.

Feick improved his jumper last season, as previously he had an offensive game that consisted of put backs at best and as a result opoosition centres guarding him just back off when he caught the ball, but he now has a solid jumper to at least foul line range, not sure about a 3 though.

The Nets will have Martin and Van Horn at the forward spots with Martin guarding the quicker oposition forward and playing inside on offense and Van Horn, slashing and roaming on the perimeter on offense and guarding the slower forward on D, or against the weaker centres, especially in the East Martin will play some 5 leaving Van horn at the 4 spot.

The question remains what do we have that they might want, i say Walt would be a good fit for them, neither Marbury or Gill are great perimeter shooters and with Kittles injured teams guarding the nets won't have to worry about a outside game, so lets trade Walt for Feick.

Will they re-sign Sherm Douglas? Or do they need another point (I didn't see how Elliot Perry played last year... but is he what they want as a backup point?)

Is it possible that we could send them Drew? He can hit the outside jumper.....

i think Sherm is out (injuries and wants more cash to play no minutes somewhere else) and Perry is signed and apparently staying.

Big Dog - I couldn't find the exact story, but here's another intresting on Seikaly playing:

    Ronny Seikaly

Also, Feick has legitimate 3pt range, and could potentialy set a mean pick with his big fat a**, but is too slow to defend outside, and too short and earthbound to be a good interior defender.

BUT, most importantly, he has a reputation of a CLUBHOUSE CANCER. Not the JYD type who gets mad when teammates don't try hard enough, but rather the type who sulks when he doesn't get to play. Most notably, I think he started crying when he didn't get to start at center last year, and was one of the main sources of friction in what was one of the top three feel-bad clubhouses in the NBA.

Of course, I've never met the guy so it could all just be malicious lies.

well Perry's contract was for 6 years, ending next season - just wondering how his form was... if he was not really playing well then would the nets want someone else as a backup PG?

For his career Feick is 12 from 30 from 3land. Not exactly indicating that he does shoot the three, but it shows that he has decent shooting range and can take it out a little - I'm pretty concerned about that fact that his overall FG% is 42.7% for his career... that's pretty poor.... expecially for a big man - you'd expect them to be making the shots they get, and a % like that indicates that he's not really making the jumpshots he gets....
