my son went through a VERY brief teletubbies phase...like all of a couple of weeks, maybe...that show creeps me out.
MR. MEOWGI - classic !!! When a girl Has a heart of stone There is only one way to melt it Just add Ice.
Just came back from watching the flick. Gotta say, it was a great movie, everything I expected. I was really into the battles and was surprise about Britney Murphy's character (Alex) in that one scene. Just all out movie that you can really get into. The whole cast was great, and I just loved it how Eminem can just change from fighting with someone to taking care of his sister within a snap of fingers. Curtis Hanson is an awesome director, and they should get some kind of awards for this.
I saw the movie tonight also. Really enjoyed the mix of seriuosness and comedy. For a serious movie, I sure did laugh a lot. Seeing Kim Basinger "on top" was incredible!
No, I didn't know that. Did you know she was also the slightly chubby, chicken eating, laxative addict in Girl, Interrupted? My how she's changed.
Awesome movie, I love how they centered the movie around Rabbit and no one else. When he finally gets up and battles, You find yourself wanting him to win so bad. I wanna go see it again just for the battle scenes, Suprisingly some really funny parts to. Eminem's acting was very above average. The movie was almost perfect, 9 out of 10.
Eminem kicks ass. Brittany Murphy is an ugly, ugly girl. The movie was cool, but didn't have an ending. Loved the battles though.
I agree about the ending. I was hoping they would do something like he would show up on TRL or something. Hell, even something like just text of what happened after his big breakout. But I just loved how they played "Lose Yourself" while he was walking away, I was "flowing" to it on the way out of the theater.
Wow, its estimated to bring in $52 Million this weekend. Not bad at all! http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/2002/45.htm
Just saw the movie yesterday and I didn't expect much from it. However, I really enjoyed the movie and liked how they portrayed the underground hip hop scene. The ciphers they had reminded me of hip hop events I go to, watching all kinds of people battle (mc'ing and dancing). For people who don't like Eminem the person should respect him as a lyricist. He has some of the best battle lines and just knows how to put the right words together, even ones you wouldn't think could go together. I've been listening to him from the times I was able to get a hold of some battle tapes way back and even his first ever Wake Up Show freestyle (which was very nice). Anyway, good movie overall, even my little brother liked it.
I felt like he didn't unleash his true genius until the battles at the end of the movie. I guess you could say I felt like I was teased. Throughout the movie, he would throw out little lines that were smart, clever and funny(THe Sweet Home Alabama bit was hilarious), but I was waiting and waiting for something big. I liked the scene at the lunchtruck when he defends the woman and the gay man with battle lyrics. when he finally lets loose the movie is over. and what was with the ex-girlfriend? why was she in the movie at all? she is in one scene in middle of pic which she says "what are you running away from" and that's it.
Another surprising thing was the spantaneous battle at the food truck. Very unlike Eminem if you know what I mean...
yeah smokey i know what you mean. another comment: I think alot of people expected "The Marshall Mathers Story" when really this is a story about a white rapper from Detroit that is loosely based on Eminem. the main difference I noticed was his relationship with his mom. at the end of the movie, he (Rabbit) and his mother resolve their issues, when in reality, Eminem hates his mother and wrote a song about, which surprisingly was never in the movie to my knowledge, just the theme song "Lose Yourself" they substituted his relationship with his daughter Hailie with the little girl to show his sensitive side, as with that scene at the lunchtruck, anyone follow?
This will probably be the only time I ever post in a thread even remotely related to rap. A few people who work with me saw 8 Mile at The Century City Mall near Beverly Hills on Monday, and saw Brittany Spears. She was with her body guard. One person said she was "even hotter in person" and more petite than he expected. By the way, she was seeing Santa Clause II and not 8 Mile.
