Has something happened to 610? The last two days I have had a problem picking it up. I live about 60 milesoutside of Houston, so the reception isn't always that great anyway, but for the last couple of days I have gotten nothing but static. This continued through yesterday's Jim Rome show. Then yesterday when I tuned in during the 2o'clock hour, the DAN PAtrick show was picking up pretty clearly. Was I picking up a diffrent station, or did they switch to ESPN?
Thanks davo. Does this have any effect on the morning or afternoon shows? I prefer those over any of ESPN's syndicated garbage.
The only ESPN show they are running is Dan Patrick's from 2-4. Rich and Charley moved to 4-8 now. John and Lance moved to 5:30am to 9am and the voice of the Texans comes in from 9-11 before Rome. For some reason they still run the Sports Flash at night and Sporting News Radion programming late at night. I don't get that. os

There might be a problem...I was in Conroe on Tuesday visiting a client and had a hard time picking it up...I drive up there often for hearings and such, but this is the first time I ever had any trouble picking up 610 up there.
At the FCC Website it shows that 610 just filed for a "Special Temporary Authority" http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=599611 That means they're going to be broadcasting at a lower power level for awhile. They must be doing some work at their transmitter site.
From Dave Barron in the Chron: "Houston is no longer the largest outpost not covered by the ESPN Radio umbrella. Beginning April 22, KILT (610 AM) will begin broadcasting hourly SportsCenter updates plus The Dan Patrick Show from 2-4 p.m. The station's new lineup will include the Bob Stephenson outdoor show from 4-5:30 a.m., John Granato and Lance Zierlein from 5:30-9 a.m., new Texans play-by-play announcer Marc Vandermeer from 9-11 a.m., Jim Rome from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Patrick's ESPN show from 2-4 p.m., Charlie Pallilo and Rich Lord from 4-8 p.m. and Matt Jackson from 8-10 p.m. KILT has some contractual obligations to Sporting News Radio Network and will continue carrying that network during late nights and on weekends. But eventually, ESPN Radio will take over those times slots as well, said KILT program director Bill Van Rysdam. "I think this is a good move," he said. "We always ask ourselves `what if.' ESPN is certainly the pre-eminent name in sports broadcasting, and it finally got to the point where it made sense to change our affiliation."
The Dan Patrick show is great!! Did anyone else hear Brian Giles on there yesterday?? hilarious!! great interviews, like Rome...but without the stupid forced in-your-face attitude.
The upside to being an ESPN affiliate is Dan Patrick can pull in some big name guests. I mean, c'mon, Steve Francis?? It doesn't get any bigger than that! os
Didn't Bob Stephenson have cancer or something? His outdoor show is cool, it's like country and stuff. That new Marc Vandemeer guy likes to listen to himself talk a little too much. I liked David Dalati much better.
I listen to it during the summer before I go to sleep (bob stephenson) Half of the show is funny country songs in the beginning and the other half is guys calling from their boats in the middle of nowhere talking about the tide......................... I love it.
Someone on another site said the Rockets and Comets might be moving to 610 next year. anyone heard anything about this?
Ever since monday, they kept saying "now we're in Houston", and all that crap. That felt good. I like Sporting News Radio. If we're such a big market, why don't we carry two national syndicates. KILT 610 belongs to Infinity broadcasting. Why don't Clear Channel or however it's spelled switch formats to an all sports channel. And who agrees with me? Does Houston have too many country, and hispanic stations? We only have one decent rock channel, 94.5 KTBZ. KLOL is too rednecking for me. KHPT 106.9 is good. I remember when 97.1 was new. They would play the same stuff over and over and over.
I was messing around with that website Finn* gave, and it appears West/Northwest Houston should receive two CBS affiliates (KHOU and KBTX [Bryan]). I don't know how many years of sellouts the Texans will have or how many years CBS will carry the AFC, but it may be time to buy a large roof antenna 5-7 years down the road Of course this is if it comes in clear with the distortion from KPRC. KPRC sucks!
I hate that outdoors show. It has nothing to do with sports, and everything to do with boring crap like weather info for Corpus Christi or whereever. Do they need it every night but Sundays? I can see having it on weekends...
