You can't put Hayes in the same category as those other guys simply because how elite his low post defense is.. It's not like he's an average defender, he is elite.
Yes, but who is to say Blair won't be too? Blair is already better at offense and rebounding than Chuck is...or ever will be. DD
i hope this man has a trade or 2 up his sleeve in the near term... we still got barry on the roster, not to mention deadweight dorsey n counterweight cook
I was reading that shooting is the easiest thing to improve in basketball... maybe this isn't true because you'd think Chuck could work on a jumper by now.
I love how defense counts as only a single dimension (and, for some people, 0 dimensions). Maybe Morey is basing his opinion on some deeper analysis, but I'd say Blair will be something more than a 1-dimensional rebounder. I'm getting a Paul Milsap-vibe from him.
they did not play last night, they play tonight vs Raptors. (notice the game thread stickied at top of forum)
Ya Ya transcript.... 610- Daryl How are you this morning? DM- Oh great, went by Starbucks, people say its pricey, but if you really dig and analyze their menu, you can usually find something worth the time and money. 610- Don't you make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year? DM- Its about the value. 610- Speaking of Value, Brian Cook, how is he doing? DM- Well, he had a solid camp. Brian played with Kobe, you really can quantify that into a specific value if you extrapolate all things considered. He did come up with that 3 pointer in the Lakers series. 610- So he will be a rotation player? DM- Not saying that, but if you were going to pay 4 million dollars for someone, they may as well have played with Kobe.... Thats a valuable commodity. 610- OK, Daryl, you must be tounge in cheek.... DM- Not really, no. 610- Well moving on, lets get the Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming injury discussion... Where are these guys at? DM- Tracy is here in Houston. He is rehabbing, chomping at the bit to come back. Yao- practicing shooting and light jogging in a giant oxygen chamber. I walk by him some days in TC and he reminds me of a giant Asian Gerbil. 610- Wow Daryl, that Starbucks this morning must have been loaded. DM- Look, Im a smart guy, if I say he looks like a Gerbil, you would think the same thing. Anyway, Tracy is here, probably back early December. Its really importat we get these guys like Joey Dorsey and Jermaine Taylor playoff experience, even if we do get raped in the first round. 610- Did you say rape? DM- Yes, yes I did. Shane says always be literal. (silence) 610- SO, are you pleased with Tracys rehab and how it was done? DM- Look, Tim Grover trains horses, so when he decides to cross-over to humans, we had to take that chance. Its like applying statistical theory in baseball and correlating that to basketball. 610- But Daryl, Tim Grover trained Dwade and Michael Jordan. DM- Like Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan? Like 23? 610- And not horses DM- Well regardless, we followed the whole rehab process on the internet. He looked great in every Skillzlab update I got. I didnt like having to pay for that site just to check out the link. 610- But you feel he will come back to elite status? DM- ONe day, I looked up from my desk, and Saw Dunte Robinson strutting around the TC with cowboys boots and a adult diaper on.... On the boots AND the diaper he had scrawled "Pay Tracy". Now I am pretty sure Tracy paid Dunte to do that. So why would he go that far, if he wasn't ready. 610- Wow. DM- Yea, we are excited about this year, we really wanna make the playoffs and win a lot of games out of grit. 610- News on player acquisitions... DM- I never kiss and tell.
It is very annoying. Just a defender and rebounder? That's a big part of the game right there. If Hayes could score he'd probably be getting a hefty paycheck somewhere. Oh, but we applaud the 1-dimensional scorer.
