Also says Deke appears to have not missed a beat. -Landry states he is not afraid of losing any more teeth to Deke's elbow. -Touches on how the Rockets didn't even touch Deke's locker from last season. 'Everything is the same as he left it' -When asked if Adelman has spoke to the team about the current problems, and more specifically if it is a defensive issue or a stagnet offense....Landry replies 'I think it's a lil bit of everything, thinks the ball needs to move on offense, allow more touches and to stop "passing the ball once and then shoot it", he also states that defense will be alot better just by Dekes presence, and that the team needs to listen to Deke. -Talks about how his role is defined as apart of what Landry calls the 'Goon Squad' bench group(Landry, Brooks, Barry, Head and eventually Artest) 'we bring energy and fight every single night, we are ready every opportunity, every minute, every second, we'll do anything it takes to win a ball game 110% every possesion, we bring the starters up, stand and cheer each other on the bench, we are all for winning -on Von Wafer......'ohh man, he loves to play, when he's on the bench, he's always up and cheerin, he gets frustrated when the possesion doesn't go right, he has alot of heart, and he's gonna give it his all any chance he gets.' also talks about wafers FoHawk......Landry says he is trying to grow one?!?! -Landry says the team needs to stick together during the mini-slump.
The mohawk might be the key to getting this team on the same page. Nothing builds team chemistry like a shared hair style. Seriously though, Landry, watch tape after tape after tape of Chuck Hayes. Not just the one on one defense but the team defense, primarily protecting the lane from penetrating guards.
Wafer does cheer all the time. He's the one guy who's always excited on the bench, jumping after a big play, or getting up in anticipation of a 3 pointer (yes even when rafer is shooting).....he's the same way on the court as well, i think he's the one who had his arms up when Brooks let go of the possible game tying 3 against Atlanta.
good to hear some positives right out of a Rocket player. thanks for the recap. hope the team stays positive and start improving. its been really tough for them with so many injuries to deal with to start the season and then they are facing this slump, lets hope they win against sixers n build on that
