Stating that our record would be better if we used more players is idle speculation and silly. As for our 4th quarter record...it's inexcusable, but I have a hard time believing we're the weakest team in the league mentally or anything like that. Some component of it is likely due to pure chance. A few years ago, the Astros had the one of the worst records in the league in 1-run games; the following year, they had one of the best. I wouldn't expect the record to look pretty, but 1-20? That said, it would be nice if we had one of those fiery spirits that can lead a surge...like Sura.
Dallas 10-8 Phoenix 4-9 San Antonio 5-15 Utah 11-18 Houston 1-20 Mavericks is the only team with a positive percentage on that stat.
rockets missed wide open shots... one of the leagues best post players gets 22 shots and only draws 1 foul. ... yeah, its the coaches fault
I dont care who is positive. 1-20!!!! At least we know that we're a great defensive team who could hold a lead. But it doesn't include games that we were up double digits and finished winning in single digits. That record look too stink. I'm ashamed to tell that to my roommate(Spurs fan)
Yeah, a lot of if is mental. But this team also does not do a good enough job of ATTACKING THE BASKET and getting to the FT line. That's a great way to get points when the game gets tough. We just don't have enough toughness to attack or the mental toughness to drive ourselves to do it.
Very true. The Rockets have been destroying teams in the first quarter lately. In general, at least until last night, they have played very good third quarters as well. Hopefully they can get in together in the 4th.
Interesting. Thanks for digging that up. I would guess that the Mavericks have a positive percentage on almost every stat.
what the heck happend....we where up at halftime then when I woke back up in the 4th we where losing.
i feel bad for them. Cuz i remember how bad we got burned by the MAVS and bad calls in the playoff series.
True, but think about three times when Yao was mugged and once when T-Mac got fouled and we didn't the call. The only thing is that the call we did get was at a time more in the spotlight, and seemingly more crucial. But Cat missed that first FT anyway. Who knows if that would have changed had he known he was going up there for 3 ft's. Maybe his concentration and mental attitude would have been different, but there is no way to tell. Either way it was a great game.
Not an encouraging stat, but to be fair, I saw a stat on ESPN yesterday that the Rox are something like 19-3 (not sure of the exact figure but it close) when leading going into the 4th quarter. Maybe they are just a good team when they are on their game setting the pace. I also think the reliance on the three in the offense causes this stat (a high-risk, high-reward thing). I think sometimes they are just "on" and sometimes they aren't. I'd be intetrested to see a correlation between the ahead / behind stat and our 3-point FG%. I bet they would correlate closely.
