I just had to share with my fellow Rocket fans, the great job my Financial Advisor has done with my 401(k). I don't pay him anything, so he tells me the best thing I can do for him is to tell other people. We have had a great run lately in the market, and my 401(k) has really benefitted. I know we all think that we can handle things on our own, and that we don't need any help. But I think it would be a great idea to sit down with a Financial Professional. Speak with someone that doesn't charge you just to put together a plan. I am not saying that you have to speak to my Advisor ( But I am putting in a nice plug for him ), but please speak with someone. Don't wait until it is too late. I told him that he may start getting random phone calls at his office, so don't be afraid to give him a call. He works for a well known firm. Chris (713) 965-5086
Okay Chris. I'm very interested in purchasing an annuity, as well as some front-loaded mutual funds. Do you think this advisor can help?
Congrats on your good returns. I'd be a little concerned about an advisor that let you believe you weren't paying him anything. I suspect there are trailers and other charges you are not seeing. Not saying your guys not doing a great job. Just that he should be honest about how he's getting paid.
I'm assuming this is sarcastic? BTW, don't be fooled by "no-load" funds. All funds charge in some way, whether it is a load, a CDSC, or a 12b-1 fee.
I apologize for saying that he doesn't charge me anything. He doesn't charge me anything for the planning and advice. I have had advisors tell me they charge for those things. He doesn't believe in wrap fees, charging you a percentage of your assest to manage your own money. His name is Chris (Smith Barney) so give him a call.
Does he have you in mutual funds or stocks? If it's mutual funds, you are paying a 'wrap' fee. You just don't know how much it is. Now he does deserve to be paid. I just wish advisors were more open about how they get paid. Sounds like you're very happy with his service. That's very important. It's sometimes tough to find people like that.
So he believes in straight commission, then? Most advisors don't follow this line of thinking at all, anymore. Oh, and BTW, advisors can't charge anything for advice and planning. But I like that he acts like he's doing you a favor.
You should consider putting something to tipjar for using this for commercial purposes. there's no such thing as free in this country.
