The announcers said that this was the first 40pt/10asst game in Rockets history. I wonder how many of those there are in the NBA. It's gotta be pretty rare.

Also, does anyone know how many of the assts were for three-pointers? If all of them were for 2pters, then Steve was directly involved in 66 of the Rockets points (44+ 11x2), however I am sure he assted on some three, so I would say it's close to 70. That's quite amazing...

What is more amazing is that he did it all against Kobe and the Lakers, who under Phil Jackson have become a respectable team on defense. I would not be surprised if, in the long and prosperous career of Steve Francis to come that he has a couple more of these 40/10 games. Hell, he'll do it on monday against the Spurs!:D

At least two of his assists were for 3 pointers. Both were to Mobley. Might be more, though, but if there were I missed them.

That would be tough to research.

I am sure it has been done quite a few times though.

Off the top of my head, here are my guesses who has probably done it:

    Kevin Johnson
    Magic Johnson
    Isiah Thomas
    Larry Bird
    Michael Jordan
    Oscar Robertson

I believe Sleepy Floyd has gone 40/10 too.

Just to keep a level head!! I remind you that in Yao Mings third season, Steve will have to increase his assists as Yao Ming will be the main scorer not Steve.

lol...I hope not. I hope they can be like Shaq and Kobe. #2 and #4 in overall scoring.

Kobe has had numerous triple doubles...he's gone over 40 plenty of times...same with T-Mac.

Just think when we have Steve scoring 25, Cuttino scoring 20 and Yao scoring 20 along with 15 from Eddie Griffin and Posey. Wow what a team we will be then...:D :D

I'm sure that Magic, Isiah, and Oscar have done it plenly of times.

Not sure if Francis can achive it.

But, the 9000+ assist group is an elite class.

FYI, Drexler is 22nd, with 6,125.

And Jason Kidd is 26th, with 5,751.

Kidd is not a scorer, but the others sure were...

It's no wonder why the Jazz are probably
the best at assist to turnover ratio....

They have the two of the top three
point guards in assist there ever was...

    Stockton (1) and Jackson (3).

I could've sworn Mark Jackson moved into second so that would actually give the Jazz the top two players in assists.

Ming won't be the main scorer. This year, Steve is the main scorers. Next year, it's 50/50, and I think it will always stay that way. But, of course, more of the offense will run through Ming. Just because we're going to feed him tons more, doesn't mean he ahs to score on all of them. Inside out game baby....
