Um no, his generalization was based off of an actual encounter with a person. You're making wild generalizations about a person from an internet post...that's completely different. And if they're not, you're a hypocrite for doing exactly what you're criticizing him for doing. Of course, the thread starter is open to the idea that he was wrong and overreacted.
how well did he know the waitress he painted as a racist for telling him his salad was $2 more than the menu stated? thanks for teeing it up for me buddy.
Bottom line: You were not there. Are you saying based on the facts there is no possibility the bartender could have given the answer based on her biases?
He hasn't been allowed in the D&D for years because of stuff like this. This thread probably ought to slide over there, which would solve the problem.
You are taking this too seriously, need to take chill pill… Aren’t you being a little too sensitive about the nose comment….… funny now you are in the same boat as the thread starter
I hope you're kidding dude...you are bashing AB saying he is accusing people of being racist when you're taking things out of context. So when someone says "nose" now it automatically means jewish? You should be the one getting booted for starting this fire.
Do you think the waitress would have looked at a reasonably-well dressed white guy, and felt the need to mention that the item requested was no longer $4.99? If she would have assumed that the white guy would have had no problem paying for it, but assumed that AB might, then race definitely played a factor. The act was a racist one. It is as simple as that. rocketfat, you have no idea what you are talking about with regards to the causes of racial tensions, and race relations.
1) If she did backtrack, she probably felt bad for snapping at him. 2) You're assuming she did "backtrack" and assuming AB is correct in saying she did. The problem is, none of us other than AB was there and none of us know her side of the story. All we know is that AB thinks he may have been offended and his side of the story.
Merely asking that question condemns her. The fact is, we don't know. I'm going to take another side of the story and say she was fed up with having to explain to people that the salad was no longer $4.99 after the bill arrives. Hell it may have even affected her tips to make her even more pissed. Could that be a reasonable answer, too? Believe me, every white person out there isn't a bad apple, and we don't always have to start with "it was a racist act" and then backtrack trying to prove it wasn't. Sometimes maybe we should prove "it was a racist act" and start from a point of innocence instead.

maybe he's upset about it because people are saying waitstaff have a right to be rude to black customers because of tipping. so when you are one of the people who advocate that action, I don't see how this is strange to you.
Alot of folx who are minority get the Automatically Guilty tag before they have done anything such as. . before they even had the opportunity to tip or not they guilty as a bad tipper Sometimes. .you treat people. . .like they treat you Rocket River
Was she hot? I think saying she has a racist agenda might be stretching it. Cranky, condescending b****es are everywhere. Those traits alone can be judged plenty harshly, racial overtones or not. Which in this case its hard to see. She could have been attempting to do you a favor, without her being at her friendliest moment and it just didnt come out right. & theorizing, she might only have had limited experiences with black people before the job but is just taking the job to make money. And when she said "some people" she immediately thought to herself "whoa, I hope he didnt take wrong" and THEN backtracked, cuz she might not maybe have MEANT it. Not saying she was trying to be down, cuz if she was she'da been nicer. Not saying racism was part of her actions either though. But you were there, and only you, her, and the manager really know. The waitress and her actions in that scenario are very mild in comparison to actual people like this here... Imagine if this guy was your server. Then you'd have a REAL problem.
Yeah, I've heard this... "it's because I'm minority I get treated that way". I don't always agree with it - many times it's just an ignorant statement. Oftentimes people get sick to death of minorities screaming "racism" for everything and its understandable. Is there racism? Sure. But to immediately scream racism with no known proof is counterproductive. As for your comment about sometimes you treat people like they treat you. That's just ignorant because then you fail to see it's a vicious circle - and if you fail to recognize that then oh well... we can expect more racism directed at you and more threads wondering if the white waitress in an Arlington, Texas Bennigans was being racist. If I were to treat people like they treat me, I'm telling you now I'd be more racist toward black people than I would be toward white people I've come across in my life. I grew up in apartments around the Medical Center, and houses in Hiram Clarke and Mo. City and I can tell you that in my 37 years of living, more black people have hurled racist or derogatory remarks at me and my family than white people have. So now, I suppose I should treat all black people with suspicion because you know... they may all be racist now. Give me a break. Growing up, most of my friends were black, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let the actions of a few butcher my relationship with the many. So if you think "an eye for an eye" is appropriate in situations such as these, then by all means, go for it. But don't come crying when it's turned back at you because after all, they're just treating you like you treat them - with one big paintbrush.
I never said treat a whole group of people like one of them treated you I said Treat people as they treat you meaning. . If a man treats you like crap . .treat him like crap not his family. . not his race.. not his mother and father. . but him Rocket River
