3-Point Line Question

    3 POINT LINE QUESTION

    my aunt and i have a bet going and she says that the 3 point line has been moved in, i told her it has been moved out. Can someone help us figure out who is right by telling us when it was moved in/out? thanks

    I believe that the 3 pt line was moved in for a season or two, then moved back out, but not as far as it was originally.

    The 3 pt line has stayed the same for a few years now.

    Actually, it did go back to the original distance when it was moved back out. The line was moved first in 1994 and moved back out in 1997.

    Hmmmm. Not sure why i thought that they didn't move it back to its original distance. :confused:

    i think it moved in on the 94-95 season.

    It is 23'9" at the top of the arc, and 22' even at the sides.

    During one year it was moved in to 22' (I think) all the way around and too many people shot them.

    You got it right. Im not sure when it was moved back in though but it only lasted a few years. I think 2.

    Hopefully.

    I'd like to make some changes _around_ the line, such as moving the sides of the court back four feet to allow better spacing and easier entry passes.

    That's only because we have a dominant big guy. Personally, I think the court dimensions are just fine now. Making the court bigger will encourage more ISO plays, which is not pretty basketball.
