    2K5 has a cut off date of September 9th, so I'm guessing 2K6 will be around the same time.

    I saw a little bit about it a while back, when Sony released info on it and a football game they were making. They have since canceled the football game IIRC (it had a pretty stupid story anyways), but the NBA game sounded cool. IIRC, NBA 06 (I think that is the name) for the PSP didn't look too great as far as gameplay goes, but I don't think it had the story-line stuff. Like you said, if the story-line mode is anything like they say it is, the game could provide some competition, especially if they could tweak some of the gameplay.

    Speaking of competition, I also saw a small video clip of Konami's NBA Starting Five. It actually didn't look that bad either. I think it is only for the PS2, but visually, it looked just as good as Live and 2K, IMO. It had some rough animations in some areas, but in other areas, it looked way better than the other two games.

    If only the developers of all 4 games got together and made one awesome game. Imagine a story mode, a dunk contest and 3pt shootout, semi-realistic gameplay, great animations, great graphics, and awesome franchise options ("Owner" mode, chemistry, scouting, etc.). And I guess you could have alternating ESPN/TNT coverage as well, or something like that. Too bad that game will never be made. :(

    That would be bad. THen there would be no competition. Plus, and I'm speaking for myself here, I'm fine with not having story mode or the dunk contests and stuff. I just want to play a sim basketball game. I usually don't even play franchise mode (yes yes) but was forced to last year since 2k removed the regular season mode.

    I guess you do have some points, although unless it was EA buying out all the developers, I don't know if not having competition necessarily be a bad thing. It depends, but I would guess that if the developers were on the same team, they'd try to create the best game that they could, no matter what (and they'd have the talent to). I guess the only bad thing is that it would probably be in the $50 range, although I'd probably pay that much for the game if it did indeed have the things I mentioned above.

    The dunk mode and some of the other stuff EA put into Live don't interest me that much either, but the storyline stuff and some of the things VC are putting into their franchise mode excite me. Unlike you, I'm a big franchise freak. Give me as much control over the team as possible, and I'll be happy. I don't even have to play a single game of the season as long as I can tweak some rosters, draft some good rookies, and win some championships.

    But that is also just me personally. I could see what you mean if you don't care for those other things. Why pay $50 for a game when you don't even care about half of the features in the game? Hell, maybe 2K can get some of the Rockstar people to come in and put some GTA elements, and EA could get the Burnout people to make some awesome crash physics for the cars, and Sony could...um...make it a MMORPG I guess. Yeah, that would be a little out of hand...I think.;)

    Comments:
    Looks pretty good. Was skeptical at first about it but i like it now that it's been explained to us. In the gameplay video, Duncan throws it down after he grabs the offensive board. I don't know, but I think i've actually seen him do that same dunk in games. Don't know but i hope there are some signature moves in the game.
    The shostick + aggression for dunk is cool and i like it now that you can control what type of dunk you want.

    Left on stick = flashy dunk
    Up= basic dunk
    Right= power dunk
    Down= reverse dunk
