Is what the Rockets have to go in order to win 50 games. This is important because they will need at least 49 or 50 wins to make the playoffs this season. Since 2006, Houston has been a 50 win team. The Rockets will be halfway through the season on Monday. I think it will be close. I am usually optimistic, but I see don't see this team higher than 7th or lower than 9th. It will probably come down to one win, or a tie.
Personally, I care nothing about getting to 50. I just hope we keep playing well. Results matter less than having all our players developed.
I want to see this team in the playoffs more than anything. At least the Rockets have a shot to beat the Lakers or the Mavs if they make a very low seed. I don't see a team winning less than 49 wins and making the playoffs in the west.
I apologize for the double post, but the Rockets pretty much have to win 2 out of every 3 games. They can't afford very many losing streaks.
yea we dont have the offense to carry us for 82 games. brooks isn't going to make 3s every night and landry can't dominate all the time.
If the Western Conference teams continue at their present clip, the #8 team(Rockets) will win 45 games to make the playoffs. But it will be close. The #7 team(Utah) will win 46, while the #11 team(Mem/NO) will win 43. Now not every team will continue at the present pace. Some will do better & some not so good. But on average, 46 wins will make the playoffs this year. We've played the most conference games so far, so the rest of the conf will be beating up on each other. Plus our overall schedule is easing up somewhat. I really feel we have a shot at a HC playoff spot! IF WE KEEP PUSHING THE BALL! The teams fighting for those spots are Utah, Houston, OKC, Memphis, NO & Portland. Even though Portland is currently 5th & on a 50 win clip, I threw them in simply because of their injuries.
Did someone say 50? wow - there must be a warp in the space time continuum. Now that the Rockets are mastering the Adelman offense they often have a run and gun - fast breaking - up tempo 17,18 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters. On defense they are holding other teams star players - to what (West 44, Jackson 43, Jefferson to 26 & 26)? the reality is that this team will be doing well to win 40. Still --- you have to like the spirit
I do not think 50 wins are needed to make the playoffs this year. It would ensure a spot, but not necessary. When 11 teams are playing as well as they are in Western Conference, they will beat each other up. Also, While on the whole, the Eastern Conference teams are not as good or consistent as the WC teams, teams like Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, and Charlotte are streaky enough and play very well at home that they can beat some of the good to better WC teams this year. I think it will require at least 46-47 wins to make the playoffs (which is still high), but not the 50. The biggest things will be the tiebreakers (again) because all these teams are so bunched together, and every Southwestern Division team is in the discussion.
our schedule gets easier, the schedule of others should get somewhat more difficult, so is very possible the teams on a 50 win pace may not end up with 50. I think it's possible for us, since we're not too far from it now, but i think the goal will end up being closer to 47 wins.
