JFC, this is just embarrassing to even watch unfold. Our conference is a complete joke. I don't blame Aggies or the Huskers for bolting at all.
It's all speculation, Longhorn...no one's been invited anywhere..no one's been rejected. I tend to agree with Donny...I think Louisville and WV both get invited. ralphDrussoAP Ralph D. Russo I don't think Sen. Manchin has been this ticked since Rich Rod left. This quote will take a few tweets, so hanging in there. ralphDrussoAP Ralph D. Russo Manchin to AP: "If these outrageous reports have any merit – and especially if a United States Senator has done anything inappropriate ... ralphDrussoAP Ralph D. Russo Machine cont.: "or unethical to interfere with a decision that the Big 12 had already made – then I believe that there should be ...." ralphDrussoAP Ralph D. Russo Manchin: "... an investigation in the U.S. Senate, and I will fight to get the truth. " And I'm sorry my typo turned him into Sen. Machine.
Well, it appears we got senators involved now for Louisville and WVU campaigning for the last spot. UT should just swallow their ego and go to 12 teams and save this embarrasement.
Alright SEC. Now is the time. Lets get WVU and UL and send the roaches in the Big 12 scurrying. Once they dissolve we can jettison those schools somewhere else. Giggles.
This is TRUTH! The Big 12 got a SECOND CHANCE when the Pac-12 said "no" to Oklahoma+others. And now the Big 12 wants to sit around and be a vulnerable conference again? Waffling! Get to 16 teams or GTFO! They need to be "aggressive" like the ACC and yet are sitting around.
Funny Article, well written, entertaining: http://outkickthecoverage.com/the-big-12-and-big-east--two-drunks-at-a-bar-trying-to-hook-up.php
This is allllll about OU at this point, to my understanding. OU and Tech really want Louisville. Not entirely sure why...hearing mixed crap about travel times and how insufficient the airport in Morgantown is for charter flights. One of these schools (at least one, if not both) will be a Big 12 school.
Senator Robert Byrd got the Coast Guard Academy for West Virginia, are you telling me he didn't get them an airport? Hell as an emergency airport for Washington or to serve the top secret underground resort,er, refuge at The Greenbriar?
So, uh, someone at the SEC goofed and hit the send button a little too soon. http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/NE...8830/tiger-tracks-missouri-joins-the-sec.aspx I'm sure this will be removed later tonight, but there are six full, in-depth articles about it. You can tell the SEC has everything lined up and ready to go, and is just waiting on the final OK from the legal team.
ChipBrownOB Chip Brown I reported at Orangebloods.com last night that B12 presidents will meet Monday to possibly admit both West Virginia and Louisville. ChipBrownOB Chip Brown ...the Big 12 is shaping up to be an 11-team league.
Now CBS is reporting they're inviting WV and sticking with 10 teams. Stick around 5 minutes, and the news will change again: http://brett-mcmurphy.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29532522/32980106 West Virginia has been invited to join the Big 12 Conference, college football industry sources told CBSSports.com Friday. The Mountaineers will accept the invitation, sources said. The Big 12 is expected to officially announce the invitation later today. The Big 12's board of directors voted Friday morning and chose West Virginia over Louisville. They will stay at 10 schools, a source said. On Tuesday, West Virginia had received a verbal offer to join the Big 12, but then the league put the Mountaineers on hold because the league’s board of directors wanted to perform “due diligence.” The league was split between adding West Virginia or Louisville to replace Missouri, which is expected to leave the league for the SEC. Missouri still hasn’t officially left the Big 12. The Tigers are still negotiating an exit fee to leave the league. The SEC’s Digital Network, an official website of the SEC, accidentally posted a story Thursday night that Missouri would join the SEC on July 1, 2012. If Missouri joins the SEC next season, West Virginia still may have to wait until 2014 to leave the Big East for the Big 12. The Big East has a 27-month notice before teams may leave the league. West Virginia is the latest team to announce its leaving the Big East Conference. Pittsburgh and Syracuse are headed to the ACC and TCU will join the Big 12 next season. With the Big 12 only taking West Virginia, the Big East’s chances of retaining its BCS automatic qualifying status in 2014 is greatly improved. The Big East wants to get to a 12-team football league and is expected to issue invitations to Boise State, Air Force, Navy, Houston, SMU and Central Florida. That would increase the membership to 11 teams. Big East commissioner John Marinatto and associate commissioner Nick Carparelli visited Air Force officials on Wednesday and Boise State officials on Thursday. With the loss of West Virginia, the Big East would need a 12th member. Sources have told CBSSports.com that the Big East’s potential Western schools are in favor of adding BYU. It’s unknown if the Cougars would be interested. Temple also is another likely candidate. The Big East could extend official invitations next week. The league’s presidents are scheduled to meet with Marinatto in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
