Bigelow over Cameron for Best director?? and Hurt Locker for best picture?? Clearly these awards are targeted for a specific demographic, the soccer moms of America..
Not always... 59 out of the 80 best pictures also had best directors. That's less than 66% of the time...
Monique always had talent, just needed a venue to express it...plus she alone did much better than Bullock did.
I saw thru netflix a few weeks ago. It is a very good movie. However, I think Avatar should have won for its achievement in filmmaking....and for Cameron as a director.
Point Break was an underrated masterpiece. Near Dark is a masterpiece. BTW it looks like the fanboys on the bbs are butt hurt over their Dances with Wolves losing. Take that crap to AICN.
I just think it was a poor year for movies in general. There were a lot of solid films but no truly great ones.
