So, what are they gonna be? - I want to get in the best shape of my life (I'm always fit, but I never fail to plateau before I reach my goals) - I want to finish school with a perfect 4.0 - I want to learn piano/keyboard. - I want to drink less sodas. For those who made some last year, did you adhere to them ? Aside from being at the same job, I did fairly well on mine.
well here i go 1)get in better shape, --as much as I like barkley round isnt a shape and I really been needing to lose weight for a while now. Hit the gym at least 3 time a week. 2) stop drinking diet soda and stick to water on a regular basis. I started this already last week and can see this through 3) stop eating out so much -- eat more at home, generally it will be healthier and will save me $ 4) save more $ -- stop spending on impulse type items 5) start taking classes for IT/Tech certifications -- been saying i should have done this for a while i know the stuff may as well have a piece of paper saying that I do 6) find a better paying job -- easier said than done in this economy but i am a bachelor still so I will go wherever the money may take me, even if thats leaving my homebase of So Cal doing 1-3 is what I am going to really concentrate on doing. and my resolution I always make and break: 7) stop getting so emotionally involved in a certain NBA team -- usually broken about 1-2 games into the new year
Along the same lines as what Yoyo said... Eating out less, which will in turn save me money, it will also make me a little healthier, and will make me learn to cook better too.
I rarely make resolutions, but I've been working on a list for a month, with measurables. I've actually started most of these. Save $15,000. Give away $15,000 (not the same as the saved). Lose 40 pounds (down 50 from my peak of 230). Grow a Spring and Fall Garden. Finish remodeling my bedroom by the end of January. Finish landscaping my yard by by the end of March. Remodel the second bathroom by the end of June. Consistently keep my house clean enough for company to drop in without embarrassment. Take a road trip/hiking trip with my dad. Figure out some way to help my grandmother with her finances. (She needs help, but she's too proud to let me just give it to her.) Cook 80% of my meals myself. Get my concealed Handgun License. Get my Professional Engineers License in the Fall. Visit my parents every week. Visit my sister that lives in the same town and her kids every week. Visit my grandmother at least every other week. Visit my sister that lives 2 hours away every month, and take one weekend trip with her. Take a College-level Spanish class.
I'd like to eventually cut out fast food completely from my diet. I want to eat more whole, natural foods and less processed salty/sugary junk. I would like to continue shedding weight, becoming healthier, and building my endurance. I'd like to read more, get outside my Steinbeck/Vonnegut comfort zone and explore newer authors and maybe some autobiographies of famous people in history. I hope to get a job within a couple months of graduating, and start feeling like an adult and less like a kid (although I seem to hold onto that with dear life). I'd like to get my mile time back to what it was when I was 16. I definitely want to travel more this year, go to Austin, San Antonio, some other places...and with the gas prices it will be possible. I also want to go the whole year without buying any new clothes.
- I want to lose alot of weight - I want to start Boxing - I want to start taking my photography seriously (take classes etc.) - I want to get up on stage during the blues jam at Danelectro's Guitar Bar!
Here are mine, I'm going to really try to stick to these. I hope it works out. - Get in better shape. Be able to comfortably fit in my size 32 jeans rather than my size 33's being snug on me like they are now. I want to accomplish this by the Coachella music festival, which is in April - EAT OUT LESS! I spend well over $1,500 every month on going out to eat. I can't imagine how much extra money I'd have if I quit doing that. I eat out 7 days a week now. If I can cut that to 3 or 4 days in 2009, I'll be happy. - Be a better boyfriend/ex-husband/whatever the hell I am. Tell my girl everyday that I love her and make an effort to be more spontaneous. - Drink less and cut down on the pain meds that I take....which I'm actually prescribed for my jacked up back, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't take them for recreational purposes some of the time. - Keep my job. I'm pretty safe at this point, but working in IT for a company that deals in the real estate sector is not exactly smooth sailing right now. - And finally....QUIT SMOKING. I'm ready for this one. I'm not one of those guys that smokes when I wake up. I usually only have one in the evenings after dinner and drinks. Cutting down on the drinking/eating out should in turn make this one easier. I'm sure it's gonna suck at first though. Damn I have a lot to do in 2009. Good luck everyone!
-lose the weight I gained throughout 2008 - Get out of debt almost there. -Get out of the country for a vacation - save up money for a down payment on a condo or house for 2010. - drink a litttle less -make more money - I want to skydive - start playing basketball again I used to be pretty good now not so much
My 2007 resolution was to get in the best shape of my life and give up soda, and I actually did it. I went 18 months without a sip of carbonation and really was in the best shape, but in the 2008 summer, it went downhill and gained a lot of weight. So this year my resolutions are: - Give up soda - Get in the best shape of my life - Go to sleep early, and wake up early - After my first semester in college, I had no idea how to control my eating habits, hopefully this semester I can eat out less and start cooking myself. - Get a 4.0 gpa - I want to try to start reading books.
I would like to... Return to prominence as a bad-ass jazz trombonist; I've a lost a step in the past year and need to get back. Eat fewer Cheez-Its; they're seriously my addiction. Get more variety in my diet, as I'll sometimes eat the exact same thing every day for a week or so.
More water/way less soda Less junk Less microwave food More Foreman grilling Keep my room clean at least 20% of the year. Sleep more
-Finish the school year with good grades and have all A's and B's -Start working out consistently again and getting back in shape. -Try to get more sleep -Be nice to everybody no matter what.
I usually eat decently well and get enough walking in, but 2008 was not my best year. Dual foot injuries (plantar fasciitiis in the left and a sprained right ankle) prevented me from walking as much as I'd like. With a 1 year-old daughter taking up all of my time, I also got into some bad eating habits. Not really bad, but not as healthy as I'd like. My cholestorol is around 300. It runs in the family, but luckily everybody on my side has no heart problems. With 1 kid and another on the way in July, my wife and I are really trying to lead healthier active lives. We like to cook, so a lot of it for us is making sure we have healthy ingredients around. We're committing to eating fish once a week and salads a few days a week. We've also committed to doing a bunch of hiking this summer as well as longer daily walks with the dogs. Nothing radically different, but trying to be more consistent. And damn it, I'm going to finish writing my next book in 2009!
I've seen this several times in this thread. I quit drinking soda in 2003, it wasn't a resolution, just one day I decided not to drink soda anymore. 5 years later I have had maybe 3-4 soda's since. It's really a great feeling. I only drink about 4-5 different liquids now.... water 100% fruit juice (apple, orange, grape, pomegrante, cranberry, blends, etc) iced tea milk and on rare occasions, alcohol. it's easy man....you can do it.
