Why the hell not. 85% of the people watching the Academy Awards were laughing after they gave their speech.
I can see it both ways. As RM Tex said most people were probably laughing when/after they gave their speech. I mean they were giving shout-outs and giving thanks to people that really didn't matter such as George Clooney for showing them love and Ludacris. On the other hand I along with 99% of other people didn't expect them to win and I seriously doubt that they themselves expected to win. To come from what they have come from (they virtually get no good critical reviews for any of the other music they've done) and make a little history has to be a little shocking even to them.
I laughed. I just thought it was kind of silly. I felt like I was watching a different awards show for a few minutes there. But, they were just up there "keepin it real". I'm just so used to everything Oscar-related being so formal and then you get a hip hop crew up there decked out in hip hop gear all talking at once throwing one/two word shout-outs when your used to the same old speeches. It felt kind of surreal...like the awards were in the twilight zone for a brief moment. It was nice they won, though.
In Stewarts defense he did give them props for their celebration and teased the Brokeback producer for wearing jeans. I thought he did a great job...I reluctantly admit.
I love rap/hip-hop and was happy for 3-6-mafia but that performance was horrendous. I couldn't understand a single word they rapped. The song is actually MUCH better in the film, when it is within the context of what is going on b/c it relates to the dude's life. In the movie, wasn't it Terrence Howard rapping it? (he didn't look like he was lip singing). If so, he should have performed it!
Crash is the worst Best Picture winner I've ever seen. Shakespeare In Love looks like The Godfather compared to that flick. Shallow, two-dimensional characters, a plot riddled with more contrivances and coincidences than an episode of Lost, and a message that's bludgeoned over your head 20 times in the first reel alone. I felt insulted by that movie. 2005 was a sh-tty year in film though, so I guess it's only fitting that a sh-tty movie win the Best Picture Oscar.
Yeah, Terrence Howard did sing all the songs. And I agree, the song is much better in the film. Not only do you get a better sense of what the song is about, but you actually know what they're saying. The soundtrack from the movie has Terrence Howard I believe. Thank god.
That's YOUR opinion. I thought it was a good flick, not the greatest but I am not outraged that it won best picture. I would have been outraged if Gayback Mountain had won. The highlight of the night was Selam Hayek...Smokinnnnnnnnn Hot!
Best part of the night was the presentation to Robert Altman by Lily Tomlin and Meryl Streep. That has to be one of the better moments in Oscar history. I think I watched it like four times in a row by doing the Tivo rewind because it was such a great moment. I also thought Jon Stewart did a heck of a job. He didn't get much of a response when he came out but he held his own and then some throughout the night.
That was awesome! Very Altman-esque. I may have to throw The Player in tonight. Or have an Altman weekend next weekend. Guy's a genius. Why? Were you offended that it won for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, or Best Score?
Not really, I just hate how everyone is trying to forcefeed that movie into people since it came out. I didn't see and will never see it. I don't particularly care to see homosexual males getting it on and preaching about how love has no boundaries. Absolutely sick! Personally I thought Cinderalla Man or Munich should have been best picture (yet Cinderella Man didn't even get nominated. I guess it came out too early in the season )

I am not stressed out at all. Believe me I do not lose any sleep over inconsequential things such as the Oscars. I just didn't want gayback mountain to win. Sue me for feeling that way.
I am not homophobic. I do not hate homosexuals. I have been around homosexual people and hung out with homosexual people before. I just don't need some movie forcefeeding it onto me and the general population and the Academy pushing it to try and break barriers and make it socially acceptable.
