Err. How about Chronicle of Narnia? King Kong? Harry Potter? Batman Begins? Corpse Bride? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?

Eminem has an Oscar too. Scorsese is in good company with Orson Welles and Stanley Kubrick.

I thought he was damn good. The politcal mud-slinging commercials were awesome (Yay for Colbert's voice-over!). Hope he gets invited back.

Some of those were pretty great actually. I just didn't feel it like other years though.

The biggest shock of the night to me was Three 6 Mafia winning in the category they were nominated in. Crash was also a surprise but not as big as Three 6 Mafia winning their award. Wow!

Where did you find that pic? I know the first person is Juicy J and the second is DJ Paul but who is that third person? It doesn't look like Crunchy Black unless he gained some major weight and it doesn't resemble Project Pat either.

Scorsese - Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, and Aviator.

Hard to believe he has not won an Oscar.

I'm fine with Crash winning best picture, but I thought the movie was good, not great. I think Munich could have been the better movie if it would have trimmed about 45 minutes off it.

They wrote the song "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" off of the "Hustle & Flow" soundtrack.

Oh yeah, does anybody know if this will be available on Bit Torrent? I missed most of it and would like to see certain parts of it. Damn I got to quit stalling and get a DVR.

The third guy is Frayser Boy. He's not in Three 6 Mafia, but he is under their label Hypnotized Minds. Crunchy Black was there though.

Here's Three 6 Mafia accepting their award. I thought it was a little disrespectful for Jon Stewart to laugh after they gave their speech.

I can't believe that crap (the song) was given an Oscar, with all due respect to those who haven't taken their medication, and for some bizarre reason think they deserved it. ;)

Ok, regardless of what these guys sounded like in their acceptance speech, I think it deserved the Oscar. The song might not be your thing, but it's nice to see them give the award to a song from a really awesome movie that was actually a really important part of the story being told. Instead of a song that played over the credits, the song that won the Oscar was the focal point of a scene that was integral to the movie it was from. I think that's why it's pretty cool that they gave the song to 3 6 Mafia instead of a song that *might* be better -- but really doesn't do anything for the movie itself.

So, Ang Lee won for best director and Larry McMurty (Lonesone Dove and Last Picture Show) won for best adapted screenplay and Brokeback Mountain won for best cinematography...and it's not the best film? The direction, script, look won and most of the cast was nominated. I thought "Capote" and "Downfall" were the best films I saw last year, but gay alchoholic writers and das fuhrer aren't best pciture material. Weird...I guess "Crash" is the kind of film Hollywood likes to promote..lots of patting themselves on the back about important topics they spoon feed to the audience. Racism...is bad. We are all racist. We need to communicate more. Yep. And, people are completely formed by their racial stereotyoes and all behaviour is motivated by race..blah, blah. I call horsesh1t. Gay horseh1t at that!

I'm in full agreement that we all stereotype. Some are just less willing to admit it.

Stereotyping is one thing, but is all behaviour motivated by racial stereotypes? I don't believe that. "Crash" seemed to be making that case and I think it's simply wrong. Race is probably a more insidious and difficult problem than "Crash" is portraying. It's layered into the fabric of everything, but it is not merely some cancer you can remove from society anymore than you can remove people not understanding each other, or insecurity. Anyway, I found "Crash" simplistic. I don't need some hackneyed plot device where a guy molests a lady one day and saves her from a fire the next to tell me that people are morally complex and capable of both good and bad. No ****, sherlock. "Capote" was a great movie because it didn't raise it's points in neon to spell it out for the audience like "Crash" did. Yeah, there's all kinds of themes of how great artists destroy themselves for their art and exploitation and insincereity and the underside of American life and all that, but it respects the audience enough to let you figure it out rather than the typical Hollywood method of having characters being set pieces for bad screenwriting. Movies like "Crash," "American Beauty" and "Magnolia" are infuritating because they make these trite points like they are some new Moses delivering the 10 Commandments of VERY IMPORTANT SOCIAL COMMENTARY. Sorry, for ranting.

This may seem a bit off the wall, but I was flipping through the cable channels on Satuday and Clerks came on, and the scene where Dante was talking about how many times Katelin cheated on him. He mentioned how Katelin came into that dark room and thought he was somebody else and that those two guys ended up in another room together. He said, "They moved to Idaho together. They now herd sheep"....Man, I just about pissed my pants from laughing so hard.

Just shows you how much of a genius Kevin Smith is. :D
