It's hard to put into words how disappointed I am with the entire Bush Administration, and on a broader scale how disappointed I am with American politics as a whole. GWB will not be getting my vote. But I live in Texas, so what does it really matter...
I agree 100%. It's sad when Kerry and Bush are the best two we could put out there. It doesn't matter, it's all about who wins and at what cost doesn't really concern the two sides. It's disgusting.
I can pass judgement on an issue, what I was trying to avoid was passing judgement on andy. Anyway, apparently I can't say anything anymore because that would be forcing my morality on others. And andy, when I said I wouldn't support someone who thought it was good for minors/teens to be introduced to p*rnography, I don't think I specifically meant you. If you can find that in the text, that would be great.
I would like to make an appeal to those who conclude that this is a bleak choice and the election is choosing the lesser of two evils. I agree with that sentiment, but would caution against allowing it to make you blase about your vote, and not examine the issues or candidates enough. That happned to me in the last election, and lead to the most shamefull political decision of my life. Things being this bad might mean your vote means more, and things should be examined more, not less, than when we are enthused by our options.
I didn't see any such debunking. I stopped even looking at that thread after it devolved into absurdity.
You mean, when people proved you wrong and continued in intelligent discussion, namely the cordial one between aghast and I?
Even those who live in Texas, which would seem to be a slam dunk for Bush, shouldn't think that their vote doesn't matter. A significant percentage of votes in Texas against Bush sends a message that won't be ignored by the moneyed interests hiring the lobbyists. You have to start somewhere. And some day, believe it or not, Texas will fall again under the "Blue" column. Everything moves in cycles. I think electing Bush will turn out to be the worst thing that ever happened to the far-right, fundamentalist wing of the Republican Party that is currently in power.
Death penalty isn't murder per se, but no, I don't really support that. The numbers are far higher for abortions though, nice try.
