i really hope edwards holds on in OK, so we at least have a race for a few more weeks. i find the thought of a Bush/Kerry race depressing, particularly if we have to endure it for 10 friggin' months. let's keep the suspense going for a little while longer... so, what does TCP think is happeningin NM?
I would have voted for Joe...Does this make me a democrat? It could have been a thread title, but I won't considering all the recent debate action topics...The point is...Well, I really liked how the guy came across...I liked the fact he wanted to improve domestic issues and he is strong on defense...Those are issues that appeal to me... I appreciated that he gave a choice to the rest of the democrats...In terms of being a fair moderate, who can reach out to the "other" side...I think this epitomizes a great leader... I appreciated near-intangibles, like his mannerism, how he spoke and responded with the typical citizen...His choice of wording always seemed appropiate, he never belly-hooed, fingered, or appeared out-of-whack as I have seen from others in his party... The other day (yesterday), I was watching C-span or something to that effect (I don't know if this was spelled right),...and it showed Lieberman in Oklahoma, still prodding his campaign while pacing inside a convention hall, akin to the inside of Houston's George R. Brown convention center,...he acknowledged again the fact of Feb. 3, being "a big test" or "the first big test"... btw, before you get worried, I don't make a habit of watching this channel on a regular basis... Back to what I was saying, Joe seemed winded down and resigned to the eventuality that Feb. 3rd would be "cut day"...but still, I appreciated the above earlier stated, I also feel this is a culmination of the majority of voting Democrats not giving the healthy dose of support as indicated by the primarys and polls by states...I find it puzzling that in a give and take world, the most "win-able" Democrat nominee is dispelled, because he gains favor in the Republican side of the fence...Well, shame on this view, because if that is a blemish, it equates to gaining much needed independent votes, that the Kerry campaign will not muster, and therefore, I believe...will NOT beat Bush... Sure, I don't agree with everything that Joe backs, as I'm very pro-gun and....ahh, big deal,...even Bush won't give me back new gun manufacturer- issued high capacity mags, or a mere flash suppressor on my AR15 type rifle made legal...(sorry had to get that in...) The point is Joe really and truly made me want to vote for him,...Now as it stands that is one less vote on your side, and just one more for Bush...

ROXRAN: Lieberman's strategy was the one that lost big for Dems in 2002. Kerry gets more crossover votes than Lieberman from veterans. Edwards gets more by appealing in the South and appealing to poor and middle class voters who are worse off from the Bush years. The Democrats may have lost your vote, but they gained many more by not nominating Lieberman.
Wow, it'd be hard to have that race any closer! The ideal scenario from my perspective would be a Clark win here to keep him in the race. Edwards has his victory and Kerry may be taking the other states. That leaves us with a continuing contest instead of a runaway for Kerry. I like the idea of that because it keeps the Democrats on the news and in the public's eye. And if Lieberman drops out as well... so much the better!

Among Democrats here.... what's the infatuation with Kerry in place of Edwards?? I'm not saying you're wrong...I just want to understand the thinking.
