What does a ps2 go for these days? I got a PS2 perfect condition in the box I figured it was worthless.
Here is what it says on the website: "PS2 to PS3 Upgrade Offer Trade in a PS2 and 3 games to get $100 toward the purchase of a new 80gb PS3. Expires:5/10/2009. Offer not good on cash trades. Games with a trade value of less than $2.00 are excluded from offer. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Hardware must have all necessary components for trade. Cannot be combined with any other offer. PS3 hardware subject to availability by location. Trade-ins subject to manager approval. See store associate for details. No dealers. Offer valid in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam only." I guess you have to have the AV cables, power cable, and a working Dualshock2 controller. I see nothing that specifies whether it needs to be a new model or not.
http://www.gamestop.com/gs/specialty/tradeins/ I have an older PS2 here and I may still have some of the games lying around. Hmm... still not sure it's worth it even at $299.99 after the discount.
Dell had a Ps3 that was 100 dollars off without the trade in earlier this week not sure if it's going on anymore.
Yeah, but it's the final price I want to drop - I don't care about the PS2 - I don't use it anymore anyway.
I see, I'm procrastinating on getting a Ps3 not because of price but more because of the lack of games I want to play.
On a related note, Amazon has some more MGS4 bundles: http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-M..._2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1240882004&sr=8-2 Still $500, but if you want a PS3 that can play PS2 games...
Well that's why I think the price is too high... I don't want to pay $299 with a lack of games I want to play. The only reason I'm remotely considering it is because it has a built-in bluray player, but eve that's not going to swing me right now.
That's a little closer to the price I'm willing to pay. If only Sony would give a decent price drop and quit screwing around with all the 500 dollar bundles. Price drop + trade ins at GS might get me where I want to be.
I already have Madden and NBA 2kwhatever on the 360. I really would like the next Grand Turismo. There's really nothing else that catches my eye - I haven't looked in a couple of months, though.
I went today, they take any model but I couldn't do my trade in because my games didn't trade in for over 2 dollars. Plus with the purchase you get a 50 dollar gift card, might check it out again this weekend and get some games from my friend. Also I hear the sony store is also reducing it by 100 when you sign up for a credit card.
Damn, that seems like such a good deal for me to use to get rid of my old, fat ps2 system. I don't know if I want to drop the 300 dollars right now though, even with the discounts...
The only thing that almost held me back besides the old games was the lack of backwards compatibility
