After the dust is cleared and we're settled on who we want out of this year's free agent class, who, of our own FAs, do we keep? If Wesley could be had for the minimum, do you bring him back as a backup guard? Do we re-sign Bogans? Should we re-sign Richie Frahm as a third guard who can shoot and stretch defense and can play intelligently? I hope we re-sign Bogans, simply because he's young and has a lot of potential as a defensive specialist and seems to be okay with that role. Plus he attacks the rim aggressively and probably can be had for cheap. Wesley, IMO, is as good as gone, although I do think he'll end up somewhere for some contender. But I hope we don't bring him back because what he brings to the table, others will bring as well. I wouldn't mind bringing in Frahm again, simply because he can shoot and this team could never have too many shooters. Plus, with the fragility of McGrady and the lack of guard depth, he'd fit right in and would be effective in 10-15 minute-per-game stints.
Aren't the Rox in a position where they basically have no choice but to bring them back? My biggest problem with the trade is not the players in specific involved, but that they traded 2 rotation players for 1 when the bench was already looking pretty thin.
I'm pretty sure, with the Battier signing, the Rockets have decided to play McGrady at SG. It makes no sense to invest a lot of money in another big SG -- unless Battier's role is going to be limited to a bench player.
I want Bogans and Frahm back too, but according to that picture and interview with CD (the Chinese one), they won't be back. Neither will Brunson.
Sign Wesley to a one year $5 million deal. Then trade him, $3 million cash, and a second rounder to Toronto for a re-signed Mike James. Or send him and Rybo to Portland for Miles and Jarrett Jack or next years first rounder top 3 protected.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2441631 June 30 Houston tendered a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Keith Bogans.
Frahm has size and a good shot. He's also intelligent and inexpensive. He may be a little slow defensively but is not a liability. He's not a starter but he provides the Rockets with flexibility. When we need defensive relief, Bogans goes in. When we need offensive relief, Frahm goes in. Also, Frahm has a history of keeping himself ready to exploit his opportunities to play. He knows his role on the team. In short ... keep him.
why would toronto do that? we're talking about david wesley here. i'd rather re-sign Frahm and bogans for a little depth or even K. rush
I think they should re-sign Bogans. That way Rockets have a solid backup for T-Mac, a backup SG with size as well. It also means if T-Mac gets injured that Bogans could start and Novak back him up................. With getting Novak and if they bring back Bogans then Bowen might not play. That itself is worth it. Bogans might get LLE type money offer from some team so I think the Rockets should definitely match it, otherwise that's just one more hole.
if he was the next lebron he sure as hell wouldn't have fallen to #8 in the weakest draft in the past 5 years.
I forgot where I heard this but Bogans was unhappy with his role and now with Battier he's be a third-string SG so that's why I'd rather have Frahm because he knows his role.
