I love JVG, and even 5-6 years ago (around when we brought in McHale or JVG), I would have been SO down to give him a go... but I struggle to believe his coaching mentality has aged very well with the modern game, especially given a few of the things he says in his color commentary (though I still love him as a commentator, don't get me wrong).
Why do people think Ty Lue is a good coach? All I know him for (as a coach) is being a doormat to be walked on by the star. How in the hell would that be a "culture reset" for us?
Hubie Brown was effective after not coaching for... 15 years. TWENTY-SIX YEAR between winning coach of the years for Hubie.
i prefer JVG in the booth and im still upset with how he handled steve francis. i think the time away has given him a better perspective on how the game needs to be played but still dont really want him. I like ty lue
I always thought he was a media creation and did not find him to be terribly good at strategy. However he did make excellent adjustments in the NBA Finals to beat the Warriors. He has the reputation as someone that stands up to star players. He also can form a really strong assistant staff. The Rockets can do worse than him but I think they can do better as well.
isn’t the team USA dleague select team coached by jvg? seems that team shoots the 3ball a lot..not sure
