Boston cannot complete a deal for almost 6 months. That also assumes that Davis is willing to go to Boston. So far Paul and Davis have tried to take the high road. First denying a trade request and now making a trade request but denying there is a list of teams. There will eventually be a list of teams if Davis isn't steered where he wants and it will get more and more nasty. The Pelicans need to decide what they want to do, because they are never going to get equal value for Davis. Do they try and trade for players that will compete now because of the market they are in, or do they tear it down and try a rebuild. I doubt they do it, but the Pelicans could easily hold onto Davis until this summer and start gutting their team now, trading players like Moore and Mirotic and sit down Davis.
If I were Boston, I'd take a serious look at trading Irving. Especially if it meant keeping Tatum. Let's say NO bites on Irving + Hayward + picks. There's no guarantees that Irving re-signs with the Celtics. Rozier / Tatum / Brown / Davis / Horford / Bench. That's a "represent the East in the Finals for, at least, the next 6 years" line-up.
Clearly this was leaked IMO to get other teams trying to bid before Boston could get involved this off season. I do not think Boston would include Kyrie as a part of any package since he is a free agent at the end of this season. All that being said call this "conspiracy theory" if you want, but I do not think any of this stuff would have been allowed if Stern was still commissioner. As much as he likes having LA being competitive I think he understand how having the league's elite talent forming in 2-3 teams and having such an imbalance in conferences hurts the product overall. The casual fan may not care too much, but majority of the NBA fans, and team owner want their team to be competitive or at least financially profitable. I am not sure if AD forcing his way to the Lakers helps that cause at all. FWIW I am still wholly unimpressed at the job Silver has done as a commissioner thus far.
you have no counter for my point that at the end of the season, Boston has the best tradable assets, bar none
Yeah, he is about to enter his prime and can score and move all over the court. Davis is the exact type of player that the Celtics saved all their assets for, and this year the Celtics are seeing the limitations of having a bunch of good but not great players. Don't be shocked when Denver goes all in for him. They have had interest in the past and are well aware that depth and good players only get you so far.
I wasn't disagreeing with you.... There are a couple of teams that will have a lot of assets that could be attractive to the Pelicans. The Celtics and the Nuggets are the two that stand out to me.
I don't see why NO wouldn't wait until the summer. Shut him down, tank for a better pick, and wait for the team with the best assets to become trade eligible. It's not like Boston entering the fray will make other offers decrease.
If Boston isnt sure they can resign Kyrie then NOLA can be certain they wont. Kyrie may have had the best season of his carreer but his trade value is almost zero because he is a UFA.
TOP picks? What top picks they got again? 14 and 16 picks arent top. As for Memphis to be a top pick NOLA will have to wait two years. Brown has been godawful this year and creates lockeroom issues. Even Tatum is nonthing near a surefire future all star they tried to potray him as.
It is a joke and it has been. So you have LeBron James' business partner representing Anthony Davis as his agent. LeBron James goes public and says he would like to play with Davis. Davis' agent waits until almost February to leak that Davis wants to be traded. The team with arguably the strongest assets cannot trade for 5 months..... But the team LeBron is on, can make a deal now. It is a joke..... and at some point it hurts the integrity of the league as well.
That isn't sure fire the best offer. Boston has a lot of assets and will be in the discussion as having the best assets, but there are other teams that can make a very strong offer,
these assets, plus other assets, can be traded up to get the #1 pick, Zion williamson most GMs will gladly take him JASON TATUM over the often-injured Porzingas do u even understand what godawful means ? 2017-18 30.5 5.0 10.4 .475 1.3 3.0 .434 3.7 7.4 .492 .538 2.7 3.2 .826 0.6 4.4 5.0 1.6 1.0 0.7 1.4 2.1 13.9 2018-19 31.1 6.0 13.4 .450 1.7 4.4 .383 4.4 9.1 .482 .512 2.7 3.1 .855 1.0 5.2 6.2 1.9 1.0 0.8 1.5 2.1 16.4
Err no. There is a 0% chance that a team will trade Zion for pick 14,16 and Memphis protected pick. I can bet my house on it. And no GM would take Brown over Porzingis unless Porzingis was literally done and couldnt walk any more. Brown has horrible handles, pitiful bball iq, little passion and creates problems in the lockeroom.
dont forget Davis firing his previous agent to sign with Rich Paul as well just before the season started You could say agents like Falk and Fegan wielded a ton of power, but nothing like what Rich Paul is trying to accomplish right now. I am not sure if you can say its "tampering" definitively since its hard to prove on paper all of these events are connected and linked, but its blatant af.
