Wilbon: Coaches say they will discombobulate Harden in the playoffs and he won't know what to do

I actually think he’s not too bad as a spot up shooter. If he can make one out of 3 which he can, that’s fine. The problem is when he decides to pull up off the dribble.. luckily he doesn’t do that anymore...

 

Double teaming Harden means he's going to pass it to someone who's open. You better hope the double team has size/length, otherwise he can pass it over you to someone standing at the basket.

This is only a problem when the teammates fail to capitalize on a bad double-team near the half-court line. Anyone with half a brain, and the ability to drive to the rim for a finish at the hoop, should be good to go.

We've not had luck on that side sometimes *cough* James Ennis *cough* Gary Clark.

This year, it looks to be a bit better. I'm hoping.

 

How so?

They either don’t double and he goes off or they do double and he makes the easy pass to open guys all night to shoot 30-40 open 3s like the other night.

Consider it figured.

Our execution of 4 on 3 against the Mavs, when they doubled Harden, was genuinely awful. We took so long to figure out the next move that the doubler was able to recover and make us play 5 on 5 again. Punish the double fast, or they'll do it all game long.

 

Great point and it’s something I hope we are working hard on. We better be.

That's cute, but Harden has had a poor shooting game against the Bucks every time. You can make excuses by saying he played good defense or passed well or yada yada, but at the end of the day, your star is going to have to come alive himself throughout a 7-game series, and so far, he hasn't shown that he can torch the Bucks.
