Why does BoB insist on making Carlos Hyde completely one dimensional?

    In 2017 Hyde had 80+ targets and around 60 catches -- I think he had his 10th catch on the season today. Hyde is far superior to Duke Johnson who really doesn't need to be on the field unless Hyde needs a break. BoB is bizarrely stubborn, but this seems obvious even for him.

    Run it up the middle x15 despite the fact that Hyde is top ten in long runs breaking outside... similar to Miller who is totally not built to grind up the middle.

    Duke is a far superior receiver. Hyde really isn't that good catching out of the backfield.

    Not that OBrien has used Duke as a receiver much either

    The problem is not having them on the field more together. Duke Johnson is a really good receiving back and should be used in the same manner as the Patriots use James White.

    Duke is better but Hyde has a 70% career catch rate -- he certainly should have many more opportunities.

    I think some of it is on Watson too. Without really looking for it, I saw Hyde wide open around 8 yards downfield at least four times on early downs. Watson even saw him a few times, but decided to throw an incomplete pass further down field into traffic.

    O’Brien needs to do a much better job scheming without Fuller. Do something else. Coutee needs to be active, just in case Fuller gets hurt. What we saw today was AWFUL.

    Whoa now, Hyde is certainly built for up the middle, he’s 6’ 235. He’s done it all year. The problem yesterday is your facing the #1 ranked run D with two monsters at the tackles in Suh and Vea.

    No way do you KEEP that run going. We’ve seen Hyde get the corners so why not mix in a HB toss to Hyde or a counter to the edge? Anything but that UTM run against TB.

    BOB had all week to game plan for this but he’s play calling mirrors his “system” which is stubbornness, which in turn is his aura. He’s just an ass. Sadly I only root for him because he’s my coach and he’s running the team.

    Agree with this. Carlos Hyde is built for this much more than say, Lamar Miller. The play call is predictible but at least they have a guy who more often than not gets positive yards. Yesterday was just the worst day fo be stubborn about continuously running into Suh and Gholston all day.
