Tilman: Hey John thanks for coming, the players have spoken and their clear choice is you. JL: Oh that’s great! I have a true bond with all (TF interrupts) Tilman: One sec, there’s just one thing. I’m prepared to offer you the position..... but at your current salary.... before you say yes, I want you to know how we value you and there will be significant bonuses added to your contract. (Slimey side smile) JL: (confused... looks at the details) So I get a bonus for making the finals, and a bonus for having PATITTA follow me around the whole season? Oh and you are going to make a reality show of it?? TF: Exciting right!!!!!
The Rockets need anybody other than the guy who led the team to the most lopsided Game 7 defeat in NBA history. 76-116, and the Rockets never even managed to take a lead... The Dude made Bill O'Brien look like the genius he thought he was...
I have a knack for identifying trolls too - picked up on your mess in about 2 seconds... Maybe someday you'll actually be confident enough that you can lose your misplaced hubris... You still dont have the nuts to admit we got exposed in the playoffs... you think that losing to a superior team somehow eliminates that reality... ok, our stupid gameplan got exposed by a superior team... they're not mutually exclusive...
So no defense to the virtuous “non douchebag” group who have used their prior personal feelings about a player and combined them with Twitter rumors, rather than reliable factual reporting, to decide how/why a particular coach will be hired? The only thing “exposed” in the playoffs was how much talent matters and how bad Westbrook really is despite people who gawk over his aesthetics and his inefficient accumulation of counting stats refuse to admit.
Yeah this doesn’t feel like the best option but who knows. It certainly sounds like the cheapest. But Lucas could be a great coach. There’s no way of knowing either way at this point.
The biggest problem I have is the dude is 66 and has never been a head coach. If you're going to hire a first-time head coach, go with a young, up-and-coming guy with potential, not a career assistant who's 3-4 years away from retirement. I've got nothing against Lucas, and if we were rebuilding, I'd actually be good with it. But if Harden is a Rocket, they should be trying like hell to win a title. Hiring Lucas doesn't seem like they're trying very hard.
Never been a head coach? He was a damn good head coach in San Antonio! He had a damn good wining percentage but that was 20 years ago
