    I was youtubing some old highlights. And the Bulls vs. Pacers lineups reminded me of our roster. (Not talent level, but playing styles)
    i.e...
    Lin/Mark Jackson
    Harden/Reggie
    Parsons/Jalen
    Asik/Rodman
    Howard/Longley

    Which teams of the past could these Rockets model their game towards? Or which playoffs team does it remind you of the most?
    (Either as is, with Asik starting or benched, or plus or minus one starter).

    poll otw!

    Plus or minus one player
    . Hard to get a perfect match on any team, but the other 4 play very similar styles.

    Reggie was a stick....
    Harden isn't the shooter he is.

    Lakers with Shaq... different but there is some common ground

    Fisher - Lin
    Kobe - Harden
    Rice - Parsons
    Horry - distant similarity (Terrence/Motiejunas)
    Shaq - Dwight

    The 1994-95 Orlando Magic.

    Shaq = Dwight
    Penny = Harden
    Horace Grant = Asik
    Dennis Scott = Parsons

    pretty much or you could just name teams without comparing players head to head.

    I think the championship team that best resembles our team is the 72-72 knicks...

    2 playmaking point guards = Lin/Harden?, 1 SF(bill bradley) = Garcia/Covington/Casspi, 1 SF/PF (Dave buss...whatever) = Parsons? , and willis reed (stats very similar to dwight)

    Sorry but I can't find any team past or present that plays similar to the current starting 5. If this team plays cohesively, there's virtually a few team only that can match ours. Hopefully there'll be no more distractions and everybody can lay down their egos. I have high expectations for this team. I'd be disappointed if we're not playing at least for the WCF.

    You mean Post-up Mark jackson and Jeremy Lin? In what way do they have similar styles?
    Also Reggie Miller and Harden do not play similar. Reggie played of the ball and Harden needs the ball in his hands.

    And why do you use half of the Bulls line up (the bad half) and half of the Pacers line up.

    Rockets are going for a roster the likes of the NBA has not seen, yet.
    The dynamic wing and high scoring/high rebounding/rim protector center has been done.

    Rockets are looking at having that with:

    a scoring PG, a versatile wing with a racket, a defensive rebounding big with a racket and a rim protector off the bench

    or

    scoring PG, a versatile wing with a racket, an offensive versatile 7-foot big (with a racket, maybe) and a rim protector off the bench

    I think the more recent (09-10) Lakers fit a more realistic idea.

    Kobe = Harden
    Kobe was obviously the superior scorer and closer, but Harden, like Kobe, handles a heavy workload from the 2 spot and is the superior playmaker
    Gasol/Bynum = Dwight/Asik
    The Lakers obviously have us beat offensively in this comparison, but we have them defensively. Both make for duos that create serious mismatches centered around size.
    Odom/MWP = Parsons/T.Jones/Motiejunas
    Odom, mostly a 4, was the superior player of the two, while for us Parsons, a 3, is the best of our trio, but combined their impacts could be comparable. Jones is a versatile talent and could become an Odom-lite eventually, and Motie is an offensive lefty who could be a mismatch.
    Fisher/Farmar = Lin/Beverley
    The two duos are not really comparable in style of play, but both teams use their PGs in complementary roles, and feature two very different types of players...one more defensive, one more offensive.
    S.Brown/Vujacic/Walton = Garcia/Brewer/Williams/Casspi
    A bunch of journeyman wings here, but the Lakers used those three wisely, and when they needed them. I expect us to do the same with our backup wings - regardless of who it may be

    Snow/Iverson/Kukoc/Ratliff/Mutombo

    Iverson- Harden

    Both are ball dominant SGs that likes to shoot and not a great impact defensively although AI did get a ton of steals

    Mutombo- Dwight

    Both are great at defense/rebounding but suck at offense although Mutombo had a jumphook and better at FTs

    Kuboc- Parsons

    Both are white all around players not really stellar at anything but pretty good at everything

    This! Shame our PF's are not as good as Ratliff was on defense.

    Man, you took it waaay back! how old are you? :grin:
    (ya don't have to answer that)

    Jackson was a great passer, Reggie and Harden are both deadly in the triple threat, and ...OOPS, I had changed my pick midway from Bulls to Pacers
