Id love to have either of the baylor studs on this team. Physically, Jones has Kemp written all over him. Is he just that passive/lazy? Ill give a pass to Miller due to coming back from injury and being a frosh on a good team, but what is stopping Jones? Seems like it could be a blessing as he may drop farther than his talent indicates to the Rox/NYK pick.

OP, please explain to us what Perry Jones III and Kemp have in common.

I'll answer for you: It ain't much. Did you see Kemp play much?

Well, yeah, the use of condom would prevent him from becoming Shawn Kemp.

his game is nothing like shawn kemp...shawn kemp attacked with a vengence, he played above the rim..PErry is like a less talented, big man, less creative t-mac as in he likes the fade away, plays more soft, doesn't feel aggressive...and aggression is what made shawn kemp utilize his athleticism and made him a success

    Perry lacks a heart.

    Kemp lacked a brain.

Perry has plenty of heart, he's one of the nicest kids you'll ever meet.

I always thought it was just him not caring, but thats not the case at all. He's just a really nice kid, and unfortunately can become passive on the court. It just isn't in his nature to be physical or to get in someone's face.

In the second half of the Kentucky game he showed a little fire, and pretty much had his way with Anthony Davis(although Davis had just gotten banged up). Hopefully he can see how far a little toughness can take him and embrace it.

You can be nice and still play with a lot of passion, just take a look at Lowry. After PPat's abysmal performance tonight I don't want anyone soft on this team.

Obviously you either dont remember how great Shawn Kemp was his first few years coming into the league, or you havent noticed how weak Perry Jones III is around the rim.

He should have completely dominated the glass in the NCAA but just never showed that edge in the paint to get physical or play above the rim.

I think the guy has all the physical tools and would love for the Rockets to steal him if he falls deeper in the draft, but he's one of the big dissapointments this year in college basketball.

If they are drafting 14 through 16 depending on how the season ends up, and Henson is still on the board I would take Henson if your looking at long lanky projects that might fall in the range the Rockets are going to be picking at.

    Why the hate for PJ3?

Why the hate for PJ3? He has his ups and downs like most college athletes. He didn't live up to expectations but doesn't mean he never will. This is supposedly a deep draft yet it seems people want these role players ahead of PJ3. Why? Tyler Zeller may be a solid center...but nothing great. No all-star games in his future. John Henson...next Hakim Warrick just a little taller. No more Marcus Morris's or Patterick Patterson's of the draft. Perry Jones 3 has a legit chance of being something special and falling in our laps. Roll the dice. We will have 2-3 picks in the 1st round. He can be the next Anthony Randolph(he needs consistent minutes to see what he's got) or the next taller, less talented version of Tracy McGrady pre-injury. If he gets a consistent jumper and plays the bulk of his minutes at SF...he would shoot uncontested jumpshots for a living.

PJ3 reminds a bit of Donuts in that they were versatile and talented bigs that were projected top 5 players, stayed out of the draft, didn't make the big jump people expected, and as a result saw their stock dropping to the middle of the first round. Let's hope we can snag PJ3 on the cheap and he and Donuts can takeover the league with a collective chip on their shoulders.

    Kemp does not equal PJ3

    Kemp:

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CkNTFZy2FMk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

    compared to Perry Jones 3:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lMhOiRZqH1w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Kemp was just pure nastiness. PJ3 could be Kemp-esque if you put a blowtorch under his butt but still...Kemp was an athletic monster. PJ3 is a tier or two below Kemp in that regard. PJ3 is way more of a perimeter based player. His post play needs more refinement and needs a killer edge.

I see nothing at all in common with PJ3 and Kemp. I also see no reason to believe PJ3 can be anything but a Lamar Odom at best. Which isn't bad, but I doubt he'll even be that good. He almost seems like he doesn't even like to play basketball.

Hell, I'd probably take Quincy Acy over PJ3.
