Saw a couple of comments from players after the game that made it sound like something crazy happened behind the scenes that the team endured through. Anyone have a clue what that was? I just assumed it was something ridiculous like their team chauffeur injured his fingers and couldn't open car doors for them or something but maybe I'm wrong.

...surely they aren't counting Iggy being out leaving their 4 All Stars to fend for themselves as crazy adversity - right?

They had some serious injuries to their star players during the regular season and the start of playoffs.

How do you figure? Curry & Iggy missed some time for sure but otherwise? Outside of Curry, the rest of their stars played 70ish games despite the fact the training staff had the luxury of being extra conservative with their injury timetables. Steph was out scrimmaging with the team for at least a week if not more when he was recovering. Isn't being banged up at the end of a long 82 games season just part of a normal season for almost all teams? Everyone is playing through muscle soarness, bruises, etc rolling into the playoffs. That just isn't really adversity - especially compared to nearly every other high level team including Houston.

Nothing happened. David West is trying to craft a narrative that there was turmoil in the locker room before the post-season but the players banded together, overcame the odds and won a championship.

    A true cinderella story.

My sauces confirm it was Draymond and KD fighting

    "
Golden State forward David West told reporters there was a lot going on behind the scenes that will shock people when it comes out, according to ESPN. He added, "Y’all got no clue. No clue. That tells you about this team that nothing came out."

Warriors guard Shaun Livingston credited Golden State coach Steve Kerr for "dealing with all our B.S. this year.”

General manager Bob Myers acknowledged that this season was certainly "not perfect" for the champions,"

It was a true underdog story. 4 all stars who overcame the odds and won a championship.

...or that the rise of faster paces and the 3 pt game increased the variance which allowed a team like GS to seemingly buck the statistical model. The way the game is played now is drastically different so it's far more likely to see a team lose/win games by 30+ depending on the number of shots they can hit at their pace. Those statistical models are heavily weighted on the old way of playing where the variance wasn't as high - a blow out game used to be 14+ but in todays game you can be within 6 in the final 3 minutes and still lose by 20+. I think because GS just outright took some games/stretches of the season off, their true statistical force was not accurately captured. Those playoff percentages were built on regular season performance and GS coasted through a large portion of the series - just doing enough to win.
