Saw this on cable tonight. An excellent piece of investigative journalism by Costas. My suspicions of A&M being one of the dirtiest programs in the Big 12 are confirmed.

Haha! One of the dirtiest programs? By your post I thought it was going to be something much worse , like Antoine Wright was going to admit to accepting gifts. I mean, maybe the details were left out and you know more than I do, but I didn't here any damning evidence.

Wow, NCAA athletes aren't focused on grades...big surprise. Anyone, who thinks this is a problem only at A&M has to be pretty delusional.

I'm surprised he said this in an interview, but what he said is happening. You're naive if you don't think protection of star athletes happens at almost every school with a high-profile athletic department. For example, look at Vince Young, Chris Leak, and Frank Gore. Their Wunderlich scores were something like 6, 8, and 5, which is basically middle-school level, yet they were able to stay eligible in prestigious colleges for 4 years.

ahh, no edit button, in the first sentence meant to say that I'm not surprised what he said is happening.

    Bottom line:

    The almighty dollar rules all

Of course colleges do this (and not just A&M). The college has a vested interest in the students getting good grades. That keeps them playing, which, in turn, brings the school money (and a lot of it).

    Money.

    It's more important than education.
    More important than propriety.
    More important than integrity.
    More important than honesty.

    Were you expecting anything else?

big deal, who cares. this happens at our school too percicles (you went to UT, right?), I saw it with my own eyes back when I was on campus

fact of the matter is, scholarship athletes are not held to the exact same academic standards as your random non-athlete student. it's common sense, happens at every school. the only thing that varies from school to school is the degree of how it happens

    all colleges cheat.

some are better at hiding it.

don't think your school is clean, cause it is not.

Who cares! Of course this is going to happening!!! Its up to the athlete to choose if he wants a challenging education or to breeze on by. If Antoine Wright wanted an education he should have challenged himself and took real classes and not left early!

He is b****ing about being steered into poultry science? That mofo could have taken sports management, its just as easy but those kids can at least apply that major to something in the real world since it suits them.

He mentioned players getting old tests and using them as "cheat sheets"? Umm... You can freakin buy those at tutoring places. Its called studying. JACKASS
