He’ll never pitch for the Astros again.
    Our run is about up.

I try not to be a doomsdayer, but I’m feeling less and less confident about the organization moving forward. Hopefully Click can work some of that Tampa Bay magic

What a shame and his contract with Houston would be up after next season so might not see him pitch for them ever again. Well at least he got/help Houston get a world series in his time with them.

Let's make the playoffs and win the whole thing for Verlander! Yes I'm grasping at straws.

Sucks that he is out. For this season, I actually feel we are better off. I just feel that we were going to find out in the playoffs that he wasn't really ready to go and the damage on the field would be done. Now we know we are going into the playoffs (hopefully) with starters of Greinke, Urquidy, and Mcullers/Valdez/Javier with a couple of those moving to the pen. I feel we will be in good shape pitching wise, but somehow/some way we just need to get some confidence with the bats.

No better time than now to see if there’s any Whitley magic.

Agreed. Feels like we can’t put it all together. When the bats are clicking, the bullpen is struggling. When the bullpen is on it, the starters struggle to go deep in games. When the starters are pitching well, the bats have trouble. 2020 for ya

Has there been any updates on his elbow? I know it was awhile ago when he suffered discomfort but has he been pitching lately?

I hope he becomes the most expensive pitching coach out there next year.

not really. Astros can recoup his salary for 2021 with an insurance claim while he gets paid and furlough that spending into getting a quality starter in free agency like Walker, Ray, Minor, etc and locking up Brantley too a deal. Astros stand to re-sign JV beyond 2021 for cheap now...better than paying him 30+ mil/yr.

Grienke, FA Starter, McCullers, Urquidy, Valdez, Javier, Whitley, etc Tons of options moving forward

Damn. Well, fitting end to the season I guess. Cursed from start to finish, and I do believe that that’s that.

    2020. What a year!
