I am getting a week off from work and I have no idea where to go. All my friends are either in school and have no money, or just have no money. That means I'll most likely be on vacay solo. I was looking at the following options: -Chicago -Vegas -LA -NYC -Panama City -Cruise out of Galveston I would appreciate some input on ideas for destinations! Worst come to worst I'll be on my xbox at home for a week doing nothing.
During your week off, show up on to my job pretending to be me. Then I'll go out to LA. This way, everyone wins.
if your going on a budget, go on a cruise, but it is more fun with other people to go with Do you have places to crash at any of those cities you mentioned? NY is a great place to visit/explore, and so much to do in a week Vegas is good for a quick trip, 3-5 days max. can't comment on the other cities since I haven't visited them yet Guess it all depends how much you want to spend, but you can't go wrong with any of the choices
Can't really speak too much for other cities outside of the U.S. aside from Toronto, Vancouver, and the caribbean islands. Those are all great places to visit. If you're looking for a city type vacation go with Chicago and NYC (by far my two favorite cities in the U.S). Chicago in the summer time can't be beat. NYC is fun, a lot to see and enjoy. Bar none, the best two food cities in the country -- there's so much great food in NYC and Chicago (excluding Pizza and Hot Dogs) that you'll enjoy the visits just on food. Both are great to visit when you're on your own too because you always run into tourists from other places doing the same thing and meet new people. If you've got the money, you should try and visit Philadelphia and D.C. - I'm going there later this summer and I hear they're both interesting places. There's also Boston and San Francisco, smaller cities than the other ones I mentioned, but great tourist destinations also. A lot to do and see -- Boston with history -- San Fran with landmarks and the natural scenery. The food in San Fran is also great, ethnic foods are a must, probably the best Chinatown in the country. You can't go wrong with either one. Seattle (I've never been), I hear is pretty nice too if you want to go to the pacific northwest. If you want nightlife... obviously Vegas. I don't know if I would spend more than 4 days there, eventually the nightlife can wear you out. A cruise is always a fun option but a better option when you're with people. I've never done it solo but I can just imagine it not being fun. Miami would be a good alternative to that if you're looking for a tropical get-away. San Diego is also a very nice underrated beach city. I'd also recommend smaller cities if you have a smaller budget -- cities like Memphis, Nashville, Kansas City and New Orleans. Check this page out too if you want more info on these places. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g191-United_States-Vacations.html If you have the money, try and visit 2 destinations in the week off.
I have done Vegas solo. It felt really lonely. I wouldn't reccomend it unless it was maybe built around something like NBA summer league. I also did a trip to Washington D.C. solo, and LOVED it. So much sightseeing to do and since I was alone could follow my own agenda/plan. Plus, it was mostly outdoors which is for some reason not as lonely. Then again, I love history, monuments, and museums so maybe not your cup of tea.
Can't go wrong with NYC Vegas Miami or LA. I was in Cancun for a week recently and loved it. Chill all day on the beach and you can go out at night. Similar to Miami but the water is more beautiful in Cancun. We stayed at Secrets the Vine which is a new, pimp resort. A lot of couples but I could see myself enjoying it alone. Gives you time to reflect, etc.
