Good strong safeties are luxuries. There are better ways to spend on defense

As bad as the defense was this season they looked worse against Indy in the playoffs last with Mathieu AND Clowney

Would Mathieu have gotten them past the Chiefs?

The Texans have a lot of holes and had more after last season

They gave up 200 rushing yards and had no sacks to Indy with Clowney Mathieu Watt and Mercilus. There is no argument to have kept them all paying Honey Badger top dollar

Just the latest player to leave Houston and win a championship immediately after. I'm starting to think that's the key to winning a Superbowl.

I mean seriously...where did the Texans spend better? Where did they draft better? Where did they trade better?

where did they do ANYTHING better by not paying?

BoB has systematically deconstructed the o-line, only to overspend to rebuild it. He has systematically deconstructed the defense, to now only to have to overpay to rebuild it.

    where has it gone right?

Gipson played well before he got hurt. You wanna know what happened to the Secondary in the Chiefs game? Both Gipson and Jahleel Addae were hurt. They would have made a difference.....

Up to the last week of the season Gipson and Mathieu had the same advanced metrics when it came to passes thrown their way. That back though. Question is wtf was he doing out there in week 17 when most the secondary had taken the week off.
Like in that Zach Cunningham thread, there are 8 defenders in the defense that if they left to play on playoff teams would have big impacts on their new teams, but as a unit they wouldn't stop the 1996 Jets. That's inexcusable and should not happen.

Justin Reid played the whole season with a Torn Labrum. He was himself. He gutted it out.

Yet his coach had him playing the blocking back in punt formation this season including running the ball on a critical fake punt play.

He did play. Why did he also have to do extra work with his torn labrum? Surely they had someone else on the team to take that role. If not, that's on the GM to not acquire a player to help out your young safety who played all season with that injury. It's not like it occurred late in the year.

    LOL.

Punt team is totally required of a starting DB. Every game. Also, really, if he's suited up why not give him the ball too? As best I can tell he'd never touched a ball on offense since he was in High School. It's what they'd least expect.

Except for that one guy, Sorenson, who read the fake before the snap.
