When I lived in Galveston I got to know a lot of long-time locals. One of the old-time Galveston people told me a story about how the Maceos and the Capone gang had a standoff on the Galveston bridge in the 1920s. Capone was trying to move in on Galveston but the Maceos raised the bridge and they had a big firefight. At the end the Capones drove back to Chicago.
