Harden Gordon House Covington Tucker Rivers McLemore G. Green J. Green If we aren't playing Moute or Carroll in the playoffs Gerald could be used as another forward off the bench especially if Covington shoots cold. I've seen Gerald show up under playoff pressure some of these guys your high on... I haven't seen them do it.
You are right, he can get on a hot streak, like Brewer. But he is a liability on defense, even worse than Brewer. Similar to McLemore, one dimensional. So would not be able to play him with BMac or even Russ. Would take him over Frazier. But this is all moot anyway, he is not eligible to play for Rockets this season.
Size, dear boy, size... ...as in lack thereof. DM/MDA don't want to skew that approx. 6'5.5" average height of the rotation... it might make the other poor fellas insecure. Those who've used the football analogy that describes playing against the Rocks as a "bunch of linebackers" don't necessarily finish the thought; that over time/games played, the weight of linebackers having to line up against centers/guards/tackles and hit-hit-hit is gonna put them at the mercy of basic physics of mass and velocity. Just ask Russ and I would bet he'd agree (in an unguarded moment).
Those same articles that reference linebackers also mention volleyball players as in same as PJ and RoCo physio types. So Rockets do value length as well as girth. LOL Perhaps Bruno's injuries after initial trade then his blunder in the bubble has hampered his progress in learning the defensive rotations and knowing how and when to properly tag in switches.
My fear... is that the minute you, I don't know, HAVE EXPECTATIONS of Jeff Green is the minute you see why he's bounced around to so many teams, all of whom tear their hair out in frustration as he soils himself in the clutch. He's the pitcher with crazy stuff who has it in him to throw a no-no every start... but then gives up a seeing-eye single in the top of the eighth and the wheels come off. But there's always someone out there who sees the possibilities.
The problem is that is all YOU are focused on. Jeff is in a completely different system and role than he has ever had in the past. And by the way, slumps happen in sports, you just play through them. But the fact that Jeff is beloved in the NBA community and recognized by his peers and luminaries for his game is telling. From scrubs to HOFers, they all respect his abilities. We do not expect Jeff to be Harden, just the best small ball 5 that has ever played. And 80% at the rim, shooting 37% from beyond the arc while defending 1-5 is pretty damn good.
That's under 30%, 28.9% to be exact. If he wants to come back next year, he is surely not proving his case. If the Rockets can get better shooting from the corners, that would open the floor up TREMENDOUSLY. As of now, defenders are backing off of him. If he would simply bend his legs when he shoot and put more arch in his shot...he could be at 35%. He squares up well, he just need to get in the gym more before the Playoffs start.
You posted Tucker HADN’T made ONE 3 pointer since being in the bubble, not one, and you watch every game.
Getting Harden the assisted 3ball is going to fall on Rivers EGo and Green as the secondary ball handlers. It is too bad that Luc is not ready for rotation minutes because his ability to handle and pass is underrated.
