Geez. Tunsil will be signed by this Summer. Watson wouldn't need to be franchised until 2022. Get a grip, people.
So.... the Texans gave up two #1’s, a #2 and 66 million in cap space over the next 3 years for someone that isn’t even in the top handful at his position? Does anyone else see how these types of moves will not work in a league with a salary cap? Nothing like selling low (Hopkins) and buying at a premium (almost every move made by BOB).
He is in the top 5 at his position. The false starts cost him some of his ranking. That issue still came from lack of time in the offense before he came here. He will obviously be better next season. The offensive line with Howard healthy will be a strength of this team.
22 would be the second year for Tunsil franchise. Moot point now with the contract extension. Definitely a bit of an over pay but Tunsil had the O’Brien’s by the short hairs
I agree he is a good player, we just paid a huge premium in draft picks and now he is the highest paid player in the league at his position. He will need to be a Hall of Fame level player the next handful of years to justify it. Maybe he will, he is still relatively young.
His age was the only Value at play for the Texans. They gave huge draft capital & paid the most $$$ any team has for an OL in NFL History. Anything less than a Hall of Fame LT & the trade was a failure.
Not to mention... 1.) DW growth as a player in this offensive scheme. I expect him to continue to improve on not holding the ball as long... he won't with the weapons around him and solidified O-Line. 2.) First time in the history of the Texans/Watson career having a true slot receiver in Cobb. Quick target. 3.) More speed on the outside with Cooks/Fuller, should make it tough on opponents to come up with schemes to stop the team when healthy. King Tunsil is a premier left tackle. Now that we have him, signed, he's "overpaid". Fanbase is stuck in mediocrity, a team who's only made it to the AFC Divisional game w/Hopkins. I don't get the hate for trying to improve the team for the long haul while keeping them competitive in the NOW.
How is the fanbase stuck in mediocrity when they've had the same coach for the last 6 years? You're implying that Hopkins was holding the team back? That' s funny. Care to list the QBs Hopkins played with before Deshaun? I guess the fanbase picked them too? $18 million guaranteed for washed up Cobb was stupid and $10 million for Arizona's washed up backup RB David Johnson is laughable. And how long before Fuller is hurt and Cooks has another "minor" brain injury? Just asking. And "King" Tunsil has his money now maybe he can grow the hell up and stop the stupid ass mental mistakes. Billy Bob should have been fired after blowing a 24-0 lead & getting outscored 51-7 in front of the football world, not given more power. Ownership's inability to hold Billy Bob accountable is the reason everyone is frustrated. Billy Bob has done his best and his tenure should've ended in Kansas City.
Are we sure they are washed up? How about letting the play this season...then we can see if they are "washed up". Yes, O'Brien should have been fired. Instead he was given a "medal" and the "keys" to the franchise. Thanks, Cal!
That's not right. The pick this past draft was in the 20s. If means the 2018 pick, that is the pick you traded for Watson. That is a no-brainer.
