The trailer across the street from Alabama ice* house. Best verde and best pastor. God I miss that place. Went from living in the neighborhood (5 mins) to living in the heights (20 mins) to living across town (45+ mins).
Same here bruh. Midtown, downtown, Home right off Washington Ave 1 block from the park...to Clear Lake Shores. I enjoy having a backyard as a lake though and a pool. We gettin old.
Hell yeah, those were great. Al pastor vs asada/fajita is a tough call. Also, the torta does not get the respect it deserves.
Al pastor and barbacoa, pastor is my favorite. The chili blend with the pineapple, it has amazing flavor. I’ve never had a pastor like it and I’ve had pastor from a chinga load of places. Their verde is elite. I used to go up there with my protein shaker and pay the lady that owns the place 5-10 extra to fill it up. I put that **** on everything, dipped pizza in it, you name it.
I’m up here on the north off 99 and the food sucks. I’m used to eating local from living in the city here and in Austin and some of the places I’ve tried up here have been damn near inedible. I’ve been cooking my ass off at home.
The last few times I had Laredo I was kinda disappointed. It’s a good sized taco for the price but the flavor wasn’t there. I do like the spicy sausage taco with the beans. If you haven’t tried the place I’ve been talking about it’s right down the road. The tacos are a lot smaller but the flavor is on point. Bring cash.
Fish or shrimp tacos with fresh ingredients. Baja style or the kind I had in Maui from Coconuts fish cafe. Since good fish tacos are hard to find in my neck of the woods I’ll go with authentic street style carne asada with onions, cilantro, lime, radish and a good green sauce.
Favorite is specifically the barbacoa there. The rest I could take or leave, though I do like their shredded chicken too. Do need to try the food truck. It was on my radar since I work close but hadn't made it there yet. Maybe one day WFH will end.
The tacos at Maudie's here in Austin are pretty damn good, as are the ones at Rosie's Tamale House, and Matt's on South Lamar.
Now I am craving tacos. I haven’t had a taco since February since the ones I make at home are **** because I have to use fake meat.
If you like their barbacoa you’ll really like this one. You’re right about the shredded chicken, I forgot about that. Spicy shredded was my other go to at loredo.
Cafe Coyote in old town San Diego are the best tacos I have ever had. I’m a Texan and all, but it really is the best taco I have had. I have driven down from LA just to turn around and drive back, “planned” trips around San Diego for them, and tell anyone that Cafe Coyote’s Tacos are simply the best thing one could put in one’s mouth.
