I have sacrificed plenty for my situation

He certainly did not sacrifice for his

Being in a position of privilege brings responsibility , all you have to do is look around at the players who understood this relative to certain markets

You're trying to hard to be aggressive to reinforce your masculinity... it's embarrassing to deal with

Me talking about my story and simple beginnings doesn't change anything

Stick to the thread topic if you're grown up enough, it's a valid point

exactly. you have nothing to say. this thread was incredibly dumb to begin with. learn to stay in your lane, especially when you're in no position to question another grown man's money they earned.

Nothing dumb about Tim Duncan, someone who won a title many times due to his understanding of the team concept and small market payrolls

You can learn a lot from him and myself , maybe even make enough money one day to be able to make sacrifices

Until then the poor just won't get it

What does Any of that have to do with baseball and Verlander.

Oh and by the way since you have some kind of obsession win him, did you know he was robbed of quite a bit of money. He sure did sacrifice

Stop trying to sound like some victim

Probably shouldn’t even have wasted my time. These idiotic threads just solidify that unfortunately these kinds of people exist in the world.

I'd say he did sacrifice. He could've justifiably demanded a 5-year deal in the offseason and held firm on it until someone gave it to him, which I believe someone eventually would have. If it's a short-term deal like he took...I wouldn't care if it were $60 million per year. For the Astros, the contract length outweighs the money for someone of his stature at this point in his career.

At 37? Not happening. Bigger short term contracts are how the Clemens and Johnson's went out and things won't change for aging pitchers who perform at a high level.

This puts the hurt on the Stros being able to retain Cole. Even with Sale and DeGrom signing for discounts, you don't ask Cole to as he's entering his first big contract to sacrifice, particularily where the system is set up so they are underpaid a long time

No worries, man. I don't even know what to say right now.

eta: I just saw this, makes it even better: Even with Sale and DeGrom signing for discounts

I am not doubting but I don’t understand why the 4th largest US city is a small market. I feel like we should have more cash than most except for maybe NYC, LA, and Chicago

We still aren't a "small market" team as the OP suggests though.

Stupid comparison. NBA has a salary cap and every team (besides those holding back cap space in attempt to sign a star) spends nearly the same amount so clearly you don't understand the concept of "small market payrolls". Once again, Houston isn't a small market either.
