See this is another problem here. The narrative surrounding this match up is a mess. This puts so much more pressure on the Rockets man.

 

Billy D was a terrible coach last year because he was scared of Russ; Billy D was afraid to tell him anything. Now that Billy has to coach children and CP3, he is finally coaching the way he wants to coach. I thought OKC has some of the best defense in the league.

 

I love this match-up because OKC will have a ton of faith in their individual defenders and probably won't try to double Harden much.

But with this current Harden? Doubling him is the only way of slowing him down. When they stick with that single coverage, it'll be a wrap.

 

I don't like the little things. Like Houston dropping to 5 with a loss and OKC doing what it takes to win today getting to 4. Right now everyone will say it's meaningless but come back to this after this OKC vs Rockets series is over and so is Mike Dantoni's coaching career.

 

OKC has always played good defense, even with Russ.

 

RoCo and Gordon better remember how to make their 3’s.

Rockets can still get the 4th seed if they win against PHI and OKC loses against the Clippers. Not that it really matters.

 

The on-off stats for CP3 and the Thunder are really lopsided.

CP3 off the floor: ORtg 102.3

CP3's going to have to stay on the court a ton to have a chance

 

This is a much tougher matchup than the jazz

Not if Rockets don't give a F about winning. OKC clearing does. Rockets dropping back to back games like having a winning by all means attitude doesn't matter. Most games they don't even control. MDA still doesn't coach he just experiments then hopes.
