Yeah, yeah. So your telling me, a guy who plays the passing lanes extremely well, a guy who's a good one on one defender, a guy who attacks the basket which causes openings for others and a guy who can shoot the corner three at a high rate is practically nil on Morey's radar? Yeah, yeah.....OK JTR.
Whether he's right for us or not, I can't see Wolves giving him up given their need for experience to assist the youth they've brought in as well as injuries they've had. The few games of theirs I watched (mainly against us) Brewer has been one of their better players. Unless of course the Wolves plan on tanking to continue building on the youth through draft/lottery picks. Loved the highlight of his the other night with his 15 steps not getting picked up for the travel.
On a bad team in which he has to do more than what he can do. It was the same with Ariza in his first stint with the Rockets.
The right-side corner 3, perhaps, but for the most part you want Brewer taking his shots in the painted area:
Yeah because Jason Terry, Garcia, Jordan Hamilton are all elite at what they do right? Think for a second before looking like an ass. If a trade is completed by the 19th, it's probably a player that won't be here for long. Morey knows what he's doing and anyone not named Harden is fair game to trade.
He hasn't brushed 30% since 2011 (when he shot 30.8 lol). I actually wouldn't mind him here -- solid perimeter defender, steals specialist, and can get to the rim -- but his 3 pt shooting has been abysmal for most of his career, save for a season or two.
Sorry I didn't look up the numbers. But in our system I think those numbers go up with the open looks he'll get.
Whatever dude. I was the only voice of reason last February in the Cyberx inspired CF lemming leap into the abyss over the "certain" Rondo trade. I shook my head when CF was going wild over signing Lowry and Melo this summer. And I will tell you that the Rockets have no interest in Brewer. He is at best a "replacement player" in the NBA. A non-entity. Period.
He's basically a lankier Nick Johnson who can defend taller guys. Can't shoot, can run the break, can play the passing lanes. I wouldn't be mad to get him for free.
If you understand Morey's philosophy this is a no brainer. Brewer does not improve any NBA team short of Philadelphia. He is a dead average NBA player and has no further potential. Basically he is just the type of player that Morey will never ever consider. Period.
Strangely enough according to tracking data, this season he shoots worse when he's wide open than he does with a defender in his face. 34.3% EFG when there's no one within 6 feet of him to 41.9% EFG with someone in his face. Last season the numbers were different but the wide open number was less than 1% EFG different than the number with a guy in his face.
My guess the negotiations is more with Brewer to opt out of next year than with Minnesota for value. His value is one or two 2nd rounder, which the Rockets have plenty of. His value for the Rockets though differ greatly whether he's a one year or two years contract.
