Dion Waiters may be a guy Morey would take a swing at. Young/Upside.

Dion for Monroe? The only problem for Detroit with that deal is having 2 volume scorers in the same backcourt.

Mike Brown got from one disastrous front office (Lakers with Jim Buss) to another disastrous team.

Asik for Varejao still works. Not sure why this hasn't just happened already other than Omer's knee issue.

That would be a good start for Cleveland.

Varejao has a team option next season. That's right up Morey's alley.

I don't think Waiters has all that much value.

Does Varejao solve the spacing issue? Never seen him shoot.

I think he would come in as a backup center. Not a 3pt shooter, but can step out and hit long jump shots.

His frequent injuries make him unreliable. Cleveland may not want Asik either.

Well then, Asik should fit right in. Make a deal, Morey.

You could reroute Asik to another team also.

That would be a pretty big reason, wouldn't you think? Also, I'm guessing that the defensive upgrade from Varejao (a good defender in his own right) to Asik may not be worth the extra $5-6 million in salary obligations next season. It still could happen, but let's not act like this is any sort of no-brainer from Cleveland's perspective.

Actually, Varejao's $9.7 million salary next season is partially guaranteed for $4 million. While that may be handy in trades for teams seeking to reduce payroll, from the Rockets' perspective, it would probably be better just to have Varejao on the roster for an extra $5.7 million than to waive him and have him continue to occupy $4 million in cap room.

They should start with firing the coach instead of dumping players. A van Gundy would do them good.

Interesting. Probably would work next to Dwight if he wasn't always hurt.

Not sure he fits good with Dwight, but would be a very good backup. I don't think he hits the long jumper consistently.
