Watched that shot live and remember literally jumping about 10 ft off the ground, I was a wee lad of 18 just graduated high school and was hanging with other college bound buds drinking Old Mud pounders (that we obtained illegally as the drinking age was/is 21 in PA) and was so jacked !!! Also recall watching a few of the Finals games from a hotel room with same dudes a few weeks later in Stone Harbor NJ getting totally wasted at the beach ... God those were good times (even though we lost to McHale's and Bird's Celts 4-2) ahhh the memories !!!

That is all well and good tinman, but I assume you were still quite young for Sampson's career. What you are doing is the equivalent of name dropping Mike Scott or Dickie Thon in a discussion about the 2005 Astros. Although Sampson was great for the Rockets most people do not know or care about our 80's teams. The average NBA/sports fan is not going to be ~40 years old, with fond memories of the teams from their childhood/teens. I'm not dissing those who are such an age or who do care about our past teams. If we'd won a championship under Sampson maybe things would have been different.

Oops was actually 20, and the Twin Towers era was awesome to watch it's amazing we never won a championship with those two anchoring the team, however, Hakeem was still learning his craft and it took him nearly 10 years ro become the dominant player he became at the 5 and Sampson always seemed to be injured after this season, at least that is how I remember it, hard to believe that was 29 years ago Jesus scary how time flies as you get older and more stupider...

What you don't think I know about Billy Doran? or cringe when Bob Knepper pitches? Or Glen Davis home runs? you don't think I know about Sky Screamer at Astroworld?

The Average sports fan who can pay $150-$1000 for a playoff ticket remembers that or their dad who pays for the tickets does.

It's better to know your history

Oh God. Knepper. Hell the only two we won was with Scott pitching. Hell of a season though to clinch with a Scott no hitter. Question. Which of our 3rd basemen hit a solo shot for the first of our two runs in that clincher game?

That entire series was exciting to watch. I wished we could have won the Championship that year.

30 years and I don't even think they talked about it at all this season. I had a guy make this custom cause I don't ever see them making one.

Tinman "wants to keep T-Mac's name off this forum" yet he keeps bringing up T-Mac...irony at its finest. I'm a Tmac and Harden fan..huh. Funny how that works.

I want to keep the real history of the Rockets alive.

that's fine with me, as long as you can pass a history test:

which of these guys got the rockets to the western conference finals?:
    1. harden
    2. sampson
    3. mcgrady
    4. kyle watson from above the rim

who lost every first round of the playoffs as a starter?

tinman gets old, but there's no need to crap on Houston's history just because tinman aggravates you.

Same way he "fights off" the LOFs by constantly bumping and firing up the Lin thread in the Dish, easily leading in posts. LOFs would've been long gone if tinman weren't here.
