Pence tops it. Rally over. Myers just couldn't keep it close enough this time. He's been great for us though.
someone said Johnson can't hit at the major league level, he's already got 2 4 hit games since his call up, lol.
I agree it's been real awesome. However, as good as he has been offensively, he has been equally bad defensively.
Well, he's got to fit in somehow in this clubhouse. He's already a misfit when it comes to offense, after all.
I'm not sure who you mean but Johnson only has 1 walk this season and 2 in his short ML career. It would be great if he can continue to put balls in play at this rate but it's a little early to pass any judgment. Very small sample size. He does appear to have a better plate approach than last season but so far he has 1 BB and 13 SO.
That's my hope... that he's able to translate some or all of the power he's shown over the last few years in the minors to the big leagues. Even with what appears to be an improvement in his plate approach, I'm not optimistic that he's going to make any drastic improvements in terms of his on-base ability. Given that he hasn't shown signs of being anything better than average-at-best defensively, he really needs to bring plus value with his bat. In a best-case scenario, I only see that coming from his slugging potential. The good thing is that he's in the right organization at the right time to finally get his chance. There won't be anybody threatening him anytime soon from within the farm ranks and the team is likely a couple of seasons away from playoff contention. It also appears that McLane is embracing the reality of the club's situation and Wade's efforts to fast track younger players while giving fringe players their chance to see what they can do.
